Try first using the ignition key to unlock the system , in case this is locked.
If it is not this, then you can reset the whole system by unplugging battery cables for ten minutes.
Ensure you have your car stereo code if you decide to unplu the battery, as you will be asked for security code when you connect back the battery.

This depends on what model of car stereo is installed.
Ususally if there is any unlock code needed, this is printed into a sticker provided with car documentation, or into the car user manual.
Checking on the Internet I have found no unlocking procedure for Mazda rx 8 , this usually means that there is no unlocking code.
The best thing to do to ensure that your car stereo does not need any unlock code is giving a quick call to your local mazda dealer, they can check in their database and find out if the code is needed.
If the code is needed and you lost it , you will need to give the car stereo model number, printed on the service tag at the back of the stereo, to a car radio unlock service, this costs about $10.
If your stereo does not require a code, it will just restart.
Call a local mazda car dealer and enquire about the car stereo if you disconnect the battery.

Only after market systems have valet over ride switches.
From what you said, the RX8 is shut down from
the factory immobilizer,
The IM05 bypass module is designed to circumvent this
but it's dependent on you having the original
programmed ignition key to do it.
Also, the system must not be damaged, or the code
lost from the keys or it won't do that.
Mazda may also need to reprogram the immobilizer code
for you to procede. Have that bit of info looked at
first.
