Chevy astro van 99 will start sometimes and sometimes it won't. changed igition coil but did not help

Hey I'm not an expert at remote starts I've only hooked up one in my life I have two of them one in my Durango & one in my Dakota Dakota was installed by best buy & Durango was installed by pc richards I'm not positive but I think tach wires are the same color on all remote starts and mine are purple the tach wire on the Durango is hooked to the #3 fuel injector wires & the Dakota wire is hooked to the coil but the tach wire is purple look back at installation directions you might have a defective remote start unit remember I said I'm not an expert I'm just going. is there a check engine light on? There are numbers of things that can cause this.

their are two spark control features one is the pick up coil it's mounted under the distributor the other is in the distributor it the control module check the pink wire that plugs into the distributor for power

Had the same issue with our 1999 chevy astro van, would crank but would not start. It had been raining and windshield had a leak, after 2 days of no rain it started. Pulled codes and was the Security system in the ignition switch. Hope this helps.

I would check the rotor very carefully. They tend to burn a hole through the plastic under the center tab. It's hard to see sometimes. The spark follows that path instead of to the wire terminals. You may just want to try a new distributor cap and rotor.

have 99 astro same problem changed ignition coil runs fine.

It really sounds like your having trouble with the crank sensor it's not firing the injectors the way it should and if its getting fire it has to be fuel and the crank sensor tells the injectors when to purge hope this fixes ya and hope i have been some help to you good luck!!

Hello rollinsal198...Check the ignition coil. From past experince, i have found that on the 97-99 astros, the coil would develop a small-crack in the case. When attempting to start, a spark from the coil would short to the coil frame. A new coil will run ya about 70 buxs and you will notice the replacement coil is 're-designed' to correct this problem... Check fuel pressure, can you hear the fuel pump "humm" when you turn the key on? Have you replaced your fuel filter lately?

can you hear the fuel pump buzz when you first hit the key /make sure it's getting fuel also try checking the timing belts //might of slipped..
