I have a 2000 E430. I just did this job because my ac compressor froze. I went to O'reilly and bought a serpentine belt 6pk2310.(different brand has it as k0910). The numbers after the part number is the length in mm or inches. Eg. 0910 = 91 inches == 2810mm. Just follow the diagram and bypass the ac compressor. Tools: 15mm wrench for the pulley tensioner. It took me 5 minutes to do this job and be on the road again. It is very easy.

good luck bypassing that AC pulley, from the diagram i dunno if you can with the way the tensioner is going to pull on the belt

They didn't make any 1999 Town cars without a/c. You can get a belt but I would suggest using a string to get the size and then go the auto parts store and have them match it.

if the ac is not working then if you leave it switched off there will be no need to get a special belt to by-pass it. The pulley on the ac compressor is just an idler pulley that only turns the compressor when there is current to the clutch in the pulley. IF you never use the ac the pulley just spins . The problem with special belts is if they fail (and they do ) it will be where/ when you cannot get a special belt but you will always get a proper belt from any spares store or garage.

I have a 1990 Olds 3.8 V6. Installed a 715k6 belt bypassing the frozen AC compressor using the stock belt routing. Working great.

What you are looking for is called an 'air conditioner compressor bypass pulley'. Most chain auto parts stores have them in stock.

All you do is install the bypass pulley and use a shorter belt.

The only downside is the cost of $25-$40. That's about one-third the cost of a remanufactured unit and the labor is compatible.

I believe you have a serpentine belt which controls everything so its impossible to bypass....if the clutch bearing in the a/c is bad i suggest replacing... to try to alter the belt and routing can lead to failure and then you will be stranded
