SOURCE: AC cold air out of my defrost vents
u need to check the vacuum from the engine to the ac control head, the air defaults to the defrost when the system looses vacuum from the engine, this is for safety.
SOURCE: Air won't come out of vents, but will from defrost and floor.
if it switches function even only a few then the problem is not the vacuum source (if u had no vacuum it would default to defrost mode) the problem is the dash control head vacuum mode control switch, i don't think u can just replace the switch, u have to buy the whole climate control module.
SOURCE: air and heat not blowing air through vents
Either Your fan switch is burned out or you blower motor is no good, your blower motor is on the passenger side under the dash. Before you replace any parts you need to check your fuses and relays under your hood and in the car. Usually if your fan switch goes bad you will still get some air blowing thru the vents, so my guess would be blower motor, If its not a blown fuse or relay.
SOURCE: Air is blowing out of defroster and floor but not main dash vents
Check for vacuum hose leak.
SOURCE: Air vents not blowing
The air in your air handling system is usually directed by vacuum actuated servo's. That is, vacuum, produced, when your engine is running (when each piston goes down it creates vacuum) This vacuum can be Co-gen erated to be used in other parts of the vehicle. In this case, the air handling system. When, one moves the control arm or knob or button on the A/C control panel, this sends a vacuum or electrical signal to a given servo motor. This servo has a diaphragm that, when vacuum is introduced, it pulls the diaphragm "in" which in turn pulls or pushes a lever that operates a "door" inside your a/c plenum. This action directs air to the duct it was intended. Now, provided your particular car uses this system, I would check for any vacuum lines loose at the servo, or anywhere they connect. You might find a vacuum line loose under the hood. Listen for a hissing sound lke air escaping somewhere. You might find the problem.
