I own a 2002 Honda Accord SE 4 cylinder 4dr. The timing belt was replaced at 90K as recommended and this car has been maintained according to Honda recommendations. However, I am experiencing a really bad jerking motion when I reach the 4000 RPM mark. I press the gas pedal down further and it just continues to **** and won't kick out. The check engine light is on and my mechanic advised me that his scan tool suggested fuel/air error. He asked me where I got gas at lately. However, I continue to tell him that it only jerks at the 4000 RPM region. WOuldn't bad gas cause this car to run crappy all the time. Well, I purchased the Seafoam gas treatment as he suggested and added 1/2 can to my 1/2 tank of gas. I recently filled up my car with premium and added the remainder 1/2 can of Seafoam. Could this still be a bad gas issue???? Please advise. Thank you for your time.
Wow I had the same issue, I just went out and check my oil and it did not have nothing so I am sure that was the problem.
Thank you!
It might have a bad coil pack. does it miss at all? the plastic boots deteriate and cause an arcing in the spark plug tube. my experiences have always been high rpm is ignition be it a coil pack or something in ignition.

My mechanic advised me that the fuel filter is a fixed unit located in the gas tank. Do you think adding another whole can of Seafoam would help? Can bad gas cause these types of problems? I saw that Honda engines have a "limp" mode built into their engines and I think this is what I am experiencing.
Actually, I went to visit the mechanic today. The scan tool identified the check engine light code as P1259. On the way home from the garage, my oil light began to blink. The mechanic did not have any time to look at my car, just time to provide me a code. So, I cam home and I "googled" that code and did some reading. The P1259 code means low oil pressure/vtec. At my recommendation, my husband stopped at the Auto store and bought a new oil filter and oil. When he got home from work he replaced my oil filter and changed the oil. We took the car for a test drive. My oil light went off and my car runs like a charm. No more jerking. And, this was all determined by some blonde, me, that did her research!
I would have the fuel filter replaced.
