Manual transmissions do not slip ie. when the gears mesh, there is no slip unless they strip out and make an awful noise and will not pull henceforth.

You probably still have a slipping clutch plate against the flywheel. You need to adjust the clutch petal linkage shaft to allow the pressure plate to be release from the thrust bearing, ie shorten the shaft length.. If you and most likely you do just have the clutch release slave cylinder that releases the clutch when you apply the petal. You need to bleed the slave cylinder of any excess fluid or air that may have entered the line if you opened it at any point. You need to bleed it as you would a break cylinder and this should fix ya.
good luck.

1989 ford ranger transmission

I'll tell you like I tell everyone else, go to the local auto parts store, spend $25 on the repair manual for your truck and in the manual is a step by step procedure for replacing the clutch, P plate and bearing. This all entails removing the transmission. And a 1989 has a hydraulic clutch, and the slave cylinder is internal if I'm not mistaken, so why you have the trans removed you should also replace the slave cylinder because it'll be just your luck after you get it all back together the slave starts to leak.

Do you have to drop trans to install slave cylinder on 95 ford ranger

I know the regular sized Ford pickups had the slave cylinder inside the bellhousing, requiring transmission removal for replacement (not very smart, Ford!) So I suppose your Ranger, too, if you don't see the cylinder on the outside.; Most people who go through this replace the whole clutch and the slave cylinder at the same time, to avoid having to do it over again.

I have a 89 chevy silverado, my slave cylinder broke off the trans and I have repaired that but now it wont pump up or operate the clutch any clues as to whats wrong??? HELP

You have to bleed the slave like you do the brakes on your truck.
Have a friend help ... pumping the clutch until some pressure builds... then holding the clutch peddle down until you have released the pressure by opening the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder...
repeate until there is sufficient clutching action to satisfy your needs.

Clutch pedal goes to the floor, will not release the clutch

Hello Henry.
There are a couple of possibilities.
First of all, check the fluid level in the reservoir under the hood. It is mounted on the firewall opposite of the clutch pedal. Remove the cap and pull the rubber boot out to fill it (with brake fluid ONLY!).
If it is empty there is a leak. It is usually one of two places. The master cylinder or the slave cylinder.
The master is mounted to the firewall and has a piston in it that pushes fluid through a line to the slave cylinder that is mounted between the engine and transmission.
Look for signs of fluid leakage and that will generally tell you which one needs repair.
The master on the firewall will usually leak on the inside of the truck where the rod from the clutch pedal goes to it and the slave will usually drip out the front of the transmission.

Hope this helps you to repair your Ranger.

The clutch filud was empty filled but still can't ingae clutch. Is there a bleeder some were

There should be a bleed valve on the slave cylinder but some of them are quite difficult to get to. If the master was empty you need to check the line for leaks and the master and slave cylinders for leakage.

2001 Ford ranger edge. The gears won't change.

The trans will need to come out. While your at it, just replace the clutch assembly, rear main oil seal, resurface the flywheel, and the clutch master cyl. Its not really a job you should do, find a repair shop to handle it.

2002 Ford Ranger Clutch Problems

It's not the clutch, it is the clutch slave cylinder. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder and you will see that it will be empty. The problem is the trans has to be removed to replace it.

Manual transmission slipping

did you have the flywheel resurfaced when you were having the clutch replaced. Not resurfacing the fly wheel can cause slippage and premature clutch failure. also did the release bearing run smoothly on the input shaft sleeve. sometimes the sleeve can get a burr on it preventing full release of the pressure plate. mike
