I have a 2004 1.8 Turbo Audi A4 quattro. Never got a timing belt change and I didn't make it to 75K. The head is now mangled inside. I am looking for more information on whether this is a recall issue or if others have this problem and what they did to remedy it.
Good luck finding a used head this is a common problem on the 1.8L most VW Audi gurus will tell you not to exceed 60K with out a timming belt service. The 1.8L has turned out to be one of the least reliable engines VW Audi has ever made. Go to your Audi dealer trade it toward diffrent car as is.
No recall head has to come off, inspect pistons for holes and gouges and cylinder walls damage .if pistons are damaged you can drop the oil pan and loosen rod and remove damaged pistons have a machine shop check rod if straight have new piston installed put it back in motor using the same piston ring . if your head is scrap junk yard have valve job done .if you cant do it yourself might be
cheaper to get another motor
Not a recall. Find a head in the junkyard and have the valves reground.
