Auto transmitions heve a fill tube in the rear of the engine compartment that are usually hidden by hoses. Manual tranmitions do not have a fill tube and have to be filled under the vehicle. There are two plugs. one will be higher than the other. You take out the top one and put your finger in the hole and see if you feel fluid. You fill it up until it starts to come out of the hole and hurry up and put the plug back in.( Be sure theat you put in the proper fluid)

Foamy transmission fluid on a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. What is the cause? I have checked both the radiator and the transmission fluid for signs of coolant and fluid mixing. I found no signs.

foaming transmission oil is normally from incorrect oil level in transmission
check the level -hot, running and in drive
ensure somebody has their foot on the brake while carrying out the check

How does one add transmission fluid to 1995 jeep grand cherokee laredo?

Look for the dipstick where you check the transmision fluid level. If you need any you pour it down the dipstick hole. Add it in small amounts and check in between additions, its really easy to overfill. Once overfilled a real pain to get it out.

Eratic shifting of gears at speeds of 55 to 75

I would check the transmission fluid level and color, should be a nice clear red color. You may need to have the filter replaced. Possibly some internal transmission problem also.

What is the aproved power steering fluid for a jeep grand cherokee laredo 2.5 tubo deisel i have been informed that dexstron is not suitable

Dexron is the standard transmission fluid used by General Motors and will work just fine in your system. If you want to spend a little extra you can buy Jeep/ Chrysler specific fluid at most parts stores.

MY 2005 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO JUST STOPED DRIVING

If engine sounds okay, (when you accelerate, it revs up, etc.) then could be a transmission problem. (assume this is an automatic?)

Check fluid level first, if okay, next suggestion would be to change fluid & filter.

When you select a gear, do you get anything, any slight jolt to the vehicle?

If nothing at all, also might check the transmission lever linkage.

Is this 4WD or 2WD? If 4WD, also need to check transfer case setting, make sure it is properly set.

Cant find the transmission fill on a 01 jeep grand cherokee

Auto tranmitions are located in the rear of the engine compartment usually hidden by hoses. Manual transmitions dont have a fill tube. You ahve to get under the vehicle and pull out the top plug and fill it until the fluid starts to come out of the hole. you check it by putting your finger in the hole to see how far down it is to get an idea of a little or alot. Plugs usually have a square head.
