Radio will not work until I reset it by pulling the fuse.

2008 Malibu LTZ radio will not work when I start the car in the morning. I pull the fuse, wait for a few hours, put the fuse back in and it works. This has happened 5 times during the fall of 2008 and every day since the New Year 2009. My dealer has not been able to help me. Does this vehicle need a computer update?

I bet updating the vehicle computer will provide no benefit
to a radio / stereo problem. If the stereo is a 2008 and there's
never been any service on it, there may be an internal memory
battery on the mainboard that has died. Higher function radios
have memory back-ups that retain user settings & instruction
sets. The fancier the features, the higher the likelihood. removing the fuse cuts ALL power to the stereo and forces
a re boot to the processor that runs all of it's functions.
leaving it fused but shut-off never turns it completely-off
and allows the system to get goofed up -
(without the back-up to retain things).
Just to find out will require removing the stereo from the car.
No dealership repairs stereos - search for DELCO car stereo
repairs shops to get an estimate, giving your symptoms.

SOURCE: chevy 2002 malibu radio wont turn off

First of all, make sure your iginition switch is completely in the off position or your radio will stay on. I had problems with this and all I had to do was make sure my shifter was locked in the park position (try jiggling it around in park until it clicks). If that doesn't help, the fuse for the radio is located on the passenger side of the vehicle on the side of the dashboard- you have to open your door to access it.

SOURCE: Factory Stereo Drains Battery

I have had this problem with a few of my cars and I thought the same that my battery was gettin drained by the stereo but really my battery was going bad hich resulted in the radio staying on for some odd reason, but i replaced the battery and all is good with no more problems, so I would take my battery down and have it tested.

SOURCE: Change headlight on 2008 Chevy Malibu

Hi there,

Well first you can please follow the below steps -
1. Make sure the ignition key is in the off position and the headlight switch is off. Release the hood latch.
2. Open the hood and locate the top of the headlight assembly where you intend to change the headlight. If a plastic shroud is present, locate the center bolt and remove it with a ratchet and a socket. Lift the shroud out of the way to access the headlight assembly retaining brackets. Some later models may feature a snap-release shroud requiring no tools to remove.
3. Locate the brackets on the top rear of each side of the headlight assembly. Lift them all the way up to align the hole on the bottom of each bracket to the retaining tabs on the assembly.
4. Pull the assembly forward away from the Malibu, but be careful not to scratch the bumper. There are three guide pins that require unseating. The guide pins are what aim the headlights and it may take some wiggling to get the pins from their seats.
5. Support the assembly with one hand and then reach behind the unit with the other. The low beam bulb is on the outside, the high beam bulb is on the inside. You can also replace the parking light if desired. Locate the wire harness connection. Un-clip the wire harness from the back of the bulb socket. Remove the bulb by turning it counterclockwise 1/3 of a turn to align the release tabs of the ring and the assembly. Wiggle the bulb out of the assembly.
6. Place the latex gloves on your hands before opening the package of the replacement bulb. Oil in our skin can damage the glass bulbs of halogen headlights.
7. Carefully insert the new bulb into the ring and then align the tabs of the ring to the tabs of the headlight assembly. Push inward and then twist clockwise 1/3 of a turn to lock the bulb in place. Reattach the wire harness. Rest the headlight assembly inside its cavity and test the operation of the headlight before securing the headlight assembly in place. Be sure to turn the lights and ignition back off.
8. Align the three guide pins to their seats and push the assembly back into them gently until they snap into place. Replace the retaining brackets by pushing them downward to lock into place. Replace shroud, if applicable. Remove the tools and old bulb and close the hood. Post comments for further help or information......

Good Luck!!

Some engines can be difficult, to identify the location of the drain plug and filter. There are thousands of configurations out there, If you are not familiar or can not locate the plug and filter, take the vehicle to a shop for service.

Don't forget to put the fuse panel back on! You will however have to reset all your radio stations! Hope this helps you! by john at cargurus

Bluetooth not working

Good afternoon Art.

A soft copy of the owners' manual for the 2011 Malibu can be found here:
https://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Ownership/Manuals_and_Videos/02_pdf/2011_chevrolet_malibu_owners.pdf

if you scroll through to manual page 7-25 (PDF Page 180), you'll find the info on pairing bluetooth stretching on for quite a ways. It looks like it can practically elope with your phone along with passing along phone calls.

I'm hoping that can help you run through pairing or diagnoses.
(The other thing to potentially look for might be a blown fuse. Forums like this one
Bluetooth phone icon stuck on and radio won work place bluetooth with the Audio System fuse, and say pulling the fuse and then replacing it will reset the Bluetooth as well. The manual noted above, starting on manual page 10-35, goes over the location of all the fuse panels, and pairs fuses to function.

Hope this helps you get to the bottom of it.
Good Luck!

2007 malibu maxx will not start after I pulled a jammed cd out of the player. the engine would not turn over and the anti theft light began flashing and cd player clicking. I disconnected and reconnected...

Did you Take the radio out of the car. Sounds like you pulled the theft wire apart that goes to the
ignition switch. If this happens the starter and the fuel are disabled preventing the car from starting.
If everything looks ok I suggest calling a radio tech guy or pull the radio out to take in for repair.
I know these radio's are sensitve and have theft lock in them also.

My 2006 chevy malibu LS the cd player won't work and the cd gets stuck what should I do?

Try pulling the fuse out for 10 min for your radio at the fuse box. This should reset the radio, so you can get your cd to work again. If this does not work, then your going to have to bring it to the dealer to have them scan the radio and or reboot it to have it function properly again. It's common for the dealers to have to reprogram the stereo system on newer cars.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

Cd player won't eject cd

Locate the fuse to your radio and pull it out for 10 min and then re-install the fuse. This should reset the radio and the cd should eject, if it doesn't reset the radio. Your going to have to bring it to the dealer and have them scan it and see if it may need a new soft wear download to have your radio work 100% again.
At worst, you my have to replace the radio you have.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

2005 Malibu MAXX car stereo dead, rear radio too.

Please check your owners manual for the location of the 10 amp fuse for the radio. On some models you have to reset the security feature on the radio/CD player for it to work.

The info below has been stated to work on a no go radio. I have not confirmed this procedure.

Remove the lower fuse box cover, with the power off, removed the 10 Amp fuse for the "Radio." the fuse may be good. Fuses are diagrammed in the owner's manual. With the fuse removed, start the car, turn the car off, replace the fuse and turn the key to "ACC" to see if the radio was "Reset."

Would the alarm cause the radio to malfunction? If your Anti Theft lock was activated check your owners manual under radio and check for a 4 number password. Sometimes it is taped to the upper part of the glove box. If you do not have the CODE you will need to take the vehicle to a dealership or a repair center. They use your vehicles vin number get the code.

2002 Chevy Malibu (Radio fuse)

There is a panel on the passengers side of the car, I pulled the fuse used for OnStar because I dont use it. I didn see any labling on mine but it was the fuse located second from the top on the left side, but you have to be looking at it side ways because of the way the fuse box is orientated.
And then put it in the socket all the way to the right second from the bottom, again looking at it sideways. NOTE: My car is a 2006 Malibu LT
