My 1995 Mustang GT has been running rough recently. It idles really rough. It'll bog down really low to about 500rpm, then it'll rev up to 1100, settle at 750, idle good for about 15 seconds, then repeat. When driving down the road in overdrive, the car will jerk (or miss) when in a higher gear. I can turn overdrive off, and it'll run perfect. There was one occurrence when I was just driving as I usually do with a normal amount of throttle, and the car wouldn't shift up until I hit about 3500 rpm. When I shut the car off, and started it back up, it ran fine. We have replaced almost EVERYTHING. Mass air flow, ECU, distributor, coil, fuel Pump, fuel filter , body control module, plugs, plug wires, idle control sensor, O2 sensors, air filter, and the Temperature control sensor. We are almost at the point of giving up and this is a last resort..

SOURCE: car runs rough at idle

clean out ur throttle body, just follow the hose from the air filter to the throttle body. Need 2 people to do this. Don't remove the hose completely from the throttle body. Just enuff to be able to spray ur intake cleaner into the throttle body. Do this especially if its worse when the motor is hot, as this would confirm the problem.

1989 mustang gt starts revs really high then dies

Sounds like the idle control valve. The same thing happened to my Mustang and that was my problem.

2500 HD chevrolet low idle problem

Engine stalling and rough run issue at low speeds

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Hi, I have an 86 Mustang GT. At idle the engine dies unless I give it some gas and the revs go up and down. On the freeway the engine died and then came back a few times. She runs strong but I do not...

It could be your idle air bypass valve. They get sticky with age and don't let enough air around the throttle body to keep the car running when it's at idle.

2006 Mustand GT. Rough Idling, shaking, trying to die

Thats the only problem with the newer cars. There are sensors for everything. Your best bet is to take it to a reputable mechanic and have it put on the diagonstic machine to find the problem($ 40-$80) Then you will know exactly what needs to be replaced without replacing things that arnt the problem
