Does a TPS sensor on a 89 Buick Lesabre need to be adjusted? I just took the old one off and just put the new one on,I noticed that when I start the car ,it idles high before that it idled normal with the old one.Is the reason for the high idling due to not adjusting the new TPS sensor.PLEASE LET ME KNOW SOMETHING ASAP.

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak or intake gaskets leaking. Try this. Start the engine and let it reach the idle it want to go to. Get you a can of Brake Clean and spray it around the intake manifold (it on the top center of the engine, you may have to removed a plastic cover) If the engine idle changes up or down then the intake gaskets are leaking hence your vacuum leak. I hope this will help you.

had same problem i would check the Idel Air Valve and also check all of your vaccum hose lines makeing sure there are no cracks or splits in rubber connectors if there is repair immediatelt because over time they start to dammage the internal parts fo the engine and if youve replace tps mass air etc. sounds like a vaccum hose problem

Why does my 2004 buick rendezvous idle at 3000 rpm and put in gear it drops to 1500 rpm and shifts hard while driving due to high engine speed?

Stuck throttle plate . gummed up with varnish or a problem with IAC valve . IAC - idle air control valve ! Videos on youtube , how they work how to clean . Idle Air Control Valve Could have unmetered air entering the engine pass the MAF sensor , a bad MAP sensor ! I would check the throttle plate first , if dirty clean it . Then check IAC valve if not the throttle plate . GM Idle Air Control IAC Function Diagnostics and Repair

2001 buick park ave high idle

First thing i would do is take the idle air control valve off and clean the carbon off of it and inside the throttle body using a non-chlronated brake cleaner. Then reset the computer with a code reader or a scan tool then start it and if problem still exists take the mass air flow sensor off and spray the thin wires inside the sensor with the same brake cleaner then let it dry for 15 minutes and re-install.Reset computer then start motor.

93 Buick Skylark is idling really high. New computer was installed, new throttle control sensor, and idle air sensor. It is still idling too high. Throttle control was cleaned and it is still idling high....

Idling high in the skylark could be something to do with throttle control, or idle air control valve, other possibilities could be a vacuum leak or mass air flow sensor, it could also be a faulty system recently replaced. When you vehicle idles high it means it is getting more fuel than its suppose to in the fuel/air mixture, most times to much fuel in the mixture is caused by a leak or malfunction in the air delivery not allowing the appropriate amount of air in.

Try cleaning your grounds under the hood: under Ignition Module bracket, rf fender behind battery and lf fender in front of windshield washer fluid bottle.
I had similar problem and this fixed it.....grounds are very important for computer.
I used a carbon conductive grease on the connections to keep them from oxidizing.
Hope this helps you out.
