go to any kragen or autozone parts store, they will run the test for trouble code that turned light on for free, tell them u want an OBD 2 trouble code test, then post the code here.

You need to check for engine codes to see what is wrong. Bring it to a parts store for a free scan for codes. The check engine light indicates a problem, probably the emissions system, which is causing the poor performance. The parts store will plug a hand held scan tool into the cars diagnostic port (usually located under the dash) and 'read' any codes stored in the cars computer. They can them tell you what code #'s come up, what they mean, and how to correct the problem. If you have any questions after that, post them here w/ the code #;s for further help.

Start with the plug wires.You may need new plugs but my experiance is that the plug wires are the first to go.

The check engine light is telling you the computer is detecting a problem from one or several sensors. You will need to have someone use a scanner to pull the codes. Places like auto zone offer this service for free(they want to sell you parts). Once you find out the codes then you can try and determine what the problem is. Could be anything from a bad plug wire to a plugged fuel filter.

have you renewed the spark plug lead? if you did and even the spark plug too, check if spark is coming out from the HT lead if yes,better to do a compression test to see the ratio and if is low comparing it with the other cylinders,possible you have either burnt valve or possible very tight valves where you should ask an expert to do the job for you . Another possibility to check is the fuel injector probably is not working correctly.
