Sound like it could be the purge valve, it is located between the cab and the box on the drivers side, it has a plug and a hose going to it. It has a small foam filter in it which must be removed, cleaned, dried and then reinstalled.
It happened to me.
I don't remember if I had to remove the neg. post off the battery for a minute or so to reset the fault code.

It might be helpful to know what code or codes are stored in the computer. GM can do this through On Star. I don't suppose you continued your subscribtion? Do you know where you could borrow a code reader? Basic models can be purchased for approx $75. You could check for spark. Pull a spark plug wire off from a spark plug. Push a screwdriver into the boot to the metal connector. Hold the shank of the screwdriver about 1/4" away from a metal engine part. Have someone crank the engine. Spark should jump this gap if it is present. Make sure you are holding onto the screwdriver handle while doing this or you may be in for a nasty suprise. Do you have a propane torch? We use on to introduce raw propane into the intake manifold. If the engine fires when you crank it you know that the engine isn't getting fuel. There's a few things to try. Good luck.
