My driver side blows hot air. I can adjust the temp gauge but still blows hot. Passenger is fully adjustable and works great. Only the driver side refuses to allow temperature setting. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer and got the A/C to work for a minute but then it went straight to hot air again. Also It seems from time to time the driver side blower is not as strong as passenger side when the original problem is in affect. Is it possible this problem is fixed by replacing the climate control module/ Or is there something more? 04 'burb. Driver side dual temp intermittently switches to cold when slider is not on hottest setting. Same problem in summer when AC is on, but blows hot.
These problems are usually caused by a faulty blend door actuator which controls the position of the air mixing door, and in vehicles with more than one air zone (passenger/driver, front/rear, etc.) there will be a door/actuator for each. These electric blend door actuators are self-calibrating - there is a feedback circuit (wiper type potentiometer) that tells your HVAC control the position of the door. It is not unusual for this potentiometer to wear causing loss of signal at various positions, which then will cause erratic movements of the door (if the circuit fails to open circuit or shorting, the door will default to fully open or closed - i.e. hot or cold air only).

Thankfully it was the drivers side controller! I found the temp control actuator located under the dash almost on the floor. I removed the four screws that held the cover in place then followed the wires to the actuator. removed the wiring harness then the two screws. replace with new part and heat works again!

You have dual zones that are controlled by temperature actuators the passenger side has lost its memory or has gone bad you can put it in self programming by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes then hook it back up start the truck turn the temperature control on but do not touch any other controls let it go thru the self programming for about 6 to 7 minutes then select your temperature you want if it still does not work properly you may have a bad actuator or a bad connection at the actuator

I have the same problem, mine resets itself when the key is turned off.must be a chevy thing.

Its more then likely the temp door broken or temp door motor broken/stuck. There is 2-3 of these motors under the dash on the side of the evap/heater core box. Some require extensive labor to replace, good luck

HVAC control head problem or it is the air Temp Control Valve problem. THe control head is the one with the buttons and knobs and the control vavle is located on the HVAC carrier assembly underneath dashboard (two of them one on left and one on right in center). This is a job for someone who has knowledge of HVAC and electrical on a GM vehicle.

We have a 2005 which has had several problems and one is the same as this except it is doing it on the passenger side.
same problem on my 2004 z71 suburban. except it is the rear ac that blows hot all the time. an ase mechanic verified for me that the rear ac has 2 separate actuators that control "blend doors" for hot and cold. in my case, since it is blowing hot all the time, the suggestion was that the actuator for cold side blend door might be bad and failing to open. the dealer told me that the actuator is 175 bucks, so i did not get it because i had not yet gotten the verification here yet. now i'm waiting to see if anyone knows whether the process of "calibrating" is complicated after replacing the actuator. OR whether calibration requires any special tools. anybody know???
