I have the exact problem and the only response I get from the mechanics and the Dodge dealer is drive it through the cycle again. I have put over 1000 miles on the car to reset the sensors and still get sensors not ready. I have disconnected the battery, I have driven the cycle, I have disconnected the computers and nothing resets the sensors. If anyone can help, please post. Thank you.

Just maybe your O2 sensors are not operating properly. They may be requiring your engine to heat them up to get upper temperature readings but not lower. You can easily diagnose these and all other sensors and problems by purchasing a Hains manual at your local Auto Zone or Advance auto store which will greatly aide you in diagnosing all your auto needs. And the fault symptom index at the beginning of the book will ease your troubles with professional one on one advice with step by step instructions. Its like having your own ASE certified mechanic at your finger tips. Good luck.

For those who research this problem (I have it too) the dealers know about it, but they don''t offer the solution unless you tell them you want the computer reprogrammed. Heard it costs $80 - $100 at dealer only. You could drive it forever, with no problems, no codes, but it will never complete the remaining tests. In Atlanta, GA area we have to spend over $400 each year without being fixed to get an exemption from the emissions test. Most fixes are permanent, but one tale of an every year thing. There was a TSB on the same motor and year but different model than Intrepid. Most of the country never even realizes its happening. Best advice is to take caution when buying the 96 Intrepid in a metro area which requires emissions testing. And shame on Chrysler! Found out all this after spending big bucks on new tranny. Runs great, but can't get tag until I can convince a Dodge dealer to just do as I ask and not to do other stuff to try to fix it. It can cost a bundle and there's really nothing wrong with the car at all. And they really hate a women telling them that they're wrong, the manufacturer is hiding the problem, and she's done her homework and knows exactly what needs to be done. They should be doing it for free, but with thousands made in each case, they don't even want to do the right thing. Anyone have a good contact with a dealer in Metro Atlanta area?

My 2001 dodge intrepid failed emissions says due o excessive of readiness monitors 'Not Ready'

you must not clear codes or unhook battery after doing what they call a drive cycle which resets monitors to a ready state. http://www.lhforums.net/forums/showthread.php?2755-OBD-II-and-your-Next-State-Inspection

I DONT KNOW WHERE MY EVAP PURGE SYSTEM IS LOCATED AT ON MY 2004 DODGE INTREPID I NEVER SEEN ONE B4, BUT I TOOK THE EMISSIONS TEST AND A CODE CAME BACK PO441 IT CAUSED ME TO FAIL THE TEST I NEED TO GET THIS...

Yep the P0441 is : The evaporative emission control bad purge flow. You wont be able to run the component test for this issue without a good scan-tool of component tester. It may have to do with the flow control valve. It should be located next to the charcoal canister.
