This means that misfire has or occurs in different cylinders. Fuel is not ignited at the correct time. Try to see if higher fuel resolves the issue. If not go check the timing of the engine or you may have to inspect the distributor it may have gone bad.

SOURCE: engine light came on while driving care on highway

with out being there to check the spark plugs i would have to say start there. most of the common causes for misfire codes especially randoms are the plugs and wires. good luck

Sounds like a bad PCV valve or bad EGR valve. replace the PCV valve ( about $10) locate and watch the EGR valve .. it should move up and down when you rev the engine.. spray the shaft with WD40 if its sluggish or stuck.. it may help.

This is strange. The tcs is a traction controll error. If you are getting misfire codes and traction control warnings, then I would have your control module tested to make sure it is not having intermittent power issues to each component.

1995 kia sephia 4-1597 1.6L SOHC idle not stable can't find new valve. Will cleaning help, and how to clean? Thank You

The idle could be due to an air leak in the rubber air hose between the throttle body and air filter housing, these crack over time and lets unmetered air into the engine may cause a high idle. Also clean your throttle body and clean your maf sensor it may help.

Airscrew

Before you could adjust the mixture, make sure that the spark plug gaps, ignition timing and valve clearance are all OK.
- Start the engine and bring it at operating temperature.
- Adjust the throttle stop screw to bring it at the stable rpm.
- Turn in the idle mixture screw while observing the engine speed till the engine starts to stall. At this point turn out the idle mixture screw and keep on opening slowly till the engine acquire the most stable rpm. Finally adjust the throttle stop screw to obtain the desired idle speed.

Car hiccups and stalls

Although your temperature gauge may show that it works, some models have a second temperature sensor for the engine management system.
That second sensor provides info which sets curb idle and timing advance. The "Cold start" feature is a part of this. The hic-cup is something of a bucking symptom as the engine controls toggle between hot and cold run settings repeatedly as water temperature is not stable.
In the past, I found several 1984 engines having defective thermostats which are tied into "Step-up" solenoids for the curb idle. What happens is idle speed is suppose to drop when the engine is hot.
When someone adjusts the curb idle while the engine is on the "cold setting", the setting(rpm) will be too low once the engine has heated up and the part drops to a hot setting.
So to clearly define your problem, you have 2 stemming from the same defects. The "in motion" problem is caused by timing changes based on temperature and the "idle" problem is caused by improper adjustment of the curb idle solenoid because of unstable operating temperature.
What you want to do is change your thermostat. This will give you a stable temperature. Then let the engine heat up and you should notice a "click" and the engine should idle down. It may stall. Then turn the idle rpm up until the engine will not stall.
The hic-cups should disappear once the operating temp is reached. If you still have problems then look for the water temperature sensors before replacing expensive parts.

It seems the battery in my 04 cadillac deville is dead. I know the battery is located under the rear seat. Can I remove it without adverse effects on the computer?

you can replace battery with out effects.first turn off radio.before removing negative battery cable.when you install new battery, when you start the engine let it idle until get operating temperature.the computer will have to relearn it memory while engine idling operating temperature.open throttle a little see if engine hesitate. it will hesitate some, when you can accelerate with out hesitation, engine tps sensor has relearned it position.if idle speed stable engine dont run rough and stall out in drive your pcm has relearned itself where you can drive it.

Idle not stable. engine dies off when i turn my sterring full swing.

For the idle not stable, should be problem with the ignition system (high-tension line or plugs) or fuel supply & air supply. please both systems. For the engine stops at full turn, when come for the full turn position the engine gets over load.so because of your 1st problem the engine can stop. Also some times the pressure release valve stuck, the second problem can be come.

When ideling, the engine races up and down without touching the accelerator. when driving, the engine stalls while at a stand still and in gear.

Replace your IAC motor. This is the "idle air control"motor. This control the amount of air needed to keep the vehicles idle stable.

Suzuki Baleno (esteem) 1999. Engine Idle RPM not stable

you probably need to check the butterfly. its the compinent that controls how much air goes into the engine if it is weared than in idle state air leaks into the engine sometime more sometimes less and cause fluctuations in rpm

secondly there is a rpm switch which controls the rpm you can replace that switch and check
