Hi Peter, If the vehicle turns on the starter all the time, and sometimes starts and other times fails, check the fuel filter for leakage. Sometimes air gets into the fuel system. When it gives problems, open the bonnet (hood) and have someone pump the pump on top of the filter housing. If it feels soft when beginning to pump, I would suspect either a leakage on the fuel line or the filter housing. If you need to replace the housing and filter, remember to fill the replacement filter with clean diesel fuel first. the glow plugs can also cause problems if one or more have burned out. Regards John
SOURCE: I have a 2001 holden
possibly air trapped in hydraulic clutch system causes pedal to go low and hard like brake pedal,
bleed from bleed nipple on firewall (bulkhead) under bonnet, left side of vehicle then under neath at slave cylinder.
when left for a while or turn vehicle off it comes good again due to air in line shifts position
these can be tricky to bleed also due to pedal doesnt come up when bleeding must pull up with foot or hand do it slowly and pump it for a while before opening bleeder nipple again.
hopefully you put the clutch fork in the right way again if you replaced the thrust bearing and the bearing itself depending on engine configuration.

Thanks John, I will give that a go & see if that helps.
Hi Peter, If the suggestions did not work I agree with you regarding the injector pump. I believe you should have the head and rotor replaced. The usual signs of wear on these parts is difficulty in starting and possibly a loss of power. Before removing the pump please inspect the whole fuel line for any leakage where the system may be sucking air. If you do need to work on the pump, I suggest the injector nozzles should be calibrated with the pump. Regards John
John, We isolated the primer/water trap and diverted the fuel lines through the filter only and it started virtually right away. Idled a bit rough then the the fuel line filled with no air visable. I will leave it sit for a day or two to make sure the front seal on the injector pump is not leaking air. Fingers crossed :) Regards Peter
