I have a 2003 Chryser Town and country. I had the transmission rebuilt at a local transmission shop 1 year ago. The first transmission shifted hard from first to second gear (almost a slam) Also, it would bump once, then bump again and then get into second gear. They claim to have replaced the torque converter. They could not fix the problem. The transmission repair shop replaced the transmission under warranty. The second transmission shifted well about 90% of the time, but then started to down shift into first gear after the car was stopped. They said it had a sticky valve, which fixed the problem and could not fix the dripping of transmission fluid on the driveway. Now I am on the third transmission, and I am back to the original bump, bump at 1500 rpms, then goes into gear after it slips. No error codes ever show up from the slippage. I do not know what to do? The place that has tried to fix these problems, and my confidence is gone they can fix it. The last (3rd) transmission is one they ordered and has 6 months warranty. What do I do?
SOURCE: I was driving and passed
The valve/solenoid assembly has been damaged. The part is $150, its replacement around $200 (depending on the shop).
Yes, the car is fixable and the bill small enough to be worth the effort.

Took it for a drive with the mechanic from the transmission shop. Stumped, will have to seek advise from Chrysler. The transmission seems to be dropping our momentarily, then stays engaged. They will keep trying to get to the bottom of it, but seem lost on the problem.
One more thing, There has never been any error codes on the transmission being picked up by the computer reader.
Well they just installed the 4th rebuild. The transmission shifts hard at 1,500 - 1,700 RPM's disengages, slams with a hard thump into gear, and usually stays in gear. sometimes it stays in on the 3rd try. It also shutters occasionally when in overdrive, like the the transmission is not locking in with enough force to be have a positive lock. They talked to the rebuild place and they are sending the 5th. Are the rebuilds on the 2003 Town and country really this poorly done? or are there defective parts being installed in the rebuild kits? Made in China?
