My alternator blew on my 2001 pt cruiser. I dropped my ball joint, removed tie rod took out my drive axel then removed alternator. Now I re installed everything but the car starts right up runs great for 2 seconds then dies. I reinspected everything all power wires were good and all vacuum lines were on nothing out of the ordinary then I removed the dust cover off the top of my 2.4 chrysler pt cruiser engine and the map sensor was snapped off I must have hit it with my elbow removing top alternator bolt from the top. My problem is when I start the car the engine light is on then car dies after 2 or 3 seconds. The car will start right back up but stall again. The car is charging great now all other engine parts look ok. I was wondering will the car stall because of the map sensor broke off if so will the computer reset itself after I reinstall another one.
Hey replace that sensor you shouldn't try to run it with out manifold air pressure is vital to eng.wan"t rid off engine light?? disconnect battery while installing your """COMPUTERIZED""" part that way when you reconnect battery just like at home PC when you install up dates you must restart your computer in order for it to recognize any up-dates such as ""MAP SENSOR""" but if you do not replace it and disconnect battery and wait a couple of means it will come rite back on!happy new year,Happy new year,John Ontario Dodge dealership tech! this made my coffee break bright !!
Yes it is possable does not know how much air is in intake and if plugging a new one in it will take instant readings and be ok may cause light which can be erased by so many ignition cyles with it working.
