Hyundai accent engine oil consumption

Hi, i have a hyundai accent glx 2001, which has clocked around 155000 k's on the odo. the car needs topping up oil(as per dipstick showing low) between 700 ml to a litre in around 1000 kms. i recently got the rings piston and sleeves replaced and for some time it seemed ok but after about 10000 kms the problem seems to have resurfaced. also when the oil is topped to the full mark on the dipstick there is some smoke(white) from the exhaust. my mechanic says its because the the car used to consume oil hence there is some still left in the exhaust due to which the smoke is there. when it runs low the lifters start making noise and thats how i come to know that it need topping up(on double checking with the dipstick ofcourse). also to note is that during the piston work, the main engine seal had also given way and had to be replaced. now the mechanic says that its blown again and needs replacing. what could be the problem? as i feel that my mechanic is just fleecing me with all these excuses while the real problem is something else. can u please help.

Hi ..... With this milage I'd expect at the same time the following would have been done, valve seals changed, valve guides checked/replaced, bores honed and valves reground into the cylinder head. Not to have done any of these is false economy and bad engineering practice.
The symptoms you state, esp'ly on topping up, point towards valve seals or guides.
Take the plugs out and examine, they should all be a light tan. Carryout a compression test across the bores and come back with the results.

My Hyundai Accent 2001 auto. engine sound is like tik tik tik how to fix it

First check your oil. Hyndais also tic tic tic from the top of the motor but it is the noise of the fuel system. If you let it go dry on oil at one time you may now have bad lifters.

My Hundai Accent GVS has engine oil consumption, also there is change in sound..what's the possibilities?

Most probable is broken piston rings. Depends on the sound. Broken piston skirt can cause a knock and oil consumption. A hole in the top of the piston can cause oil consumption and a rough running engine. Depends on the size of the hole how bad it might sound and run. In either case the crankcase blowby would be pretty good. pull the oil filler cap off while it is running and see if you get any vapor coming out. Vapor coming out is really bad. not coming out doesnt mean there isn't excess blowby as the engine trys to burn it. Of course these are extremes and it could be more subtle then that. depends on how much oil is consumbed and how serious the sound change is. I wouldnt take any long trips in it at this point.

Using to much oil a 2002 accent with 76k. uses about a quart every 1k miles. dop i need to adjust the valves?

That's within acceptable limits according to Hyundai Motor America's standard: For a proper diagnosis, the amount of oil consumed over a known mileage should be checked three times and then averaged. The accumulated mileage divided by the total amount of oil added will give the consumption rate in miles per quart. If the oil consumption rate is greater than 1 quart per each 1000 miles, further diagnosis may be required.

Oil consumption, no smoke, no leaks

Oil consumption can be when the piston rings worn out, also valve gaides worn out.
means engine oil passes through the combustion chamber, you cant see smoke sometimes.but when condition of the piston ring is wost you can see smoke behind the exhaust.
