Rear Hatch Window won't stop rattling

How could I stop the annoying rattling and squeaking? If I need to buy weatherstripping to hold the window tighter, where could I get a replacement that would fit my car? I've checked AutoZone and JCWhitney, and they don't seem to have the exact part I need. Would it be a worn down striker?

What you need to do is go to a automotive part store and they will look them up per your vehicle. They should both just snap in on both ends.Good luck.

SOURCE: rear hatch will not open

If u go inside ur truck to the back and take off the back panel u will find a small latch to pop it but u have to push on the glass at the same time. I also had this problem and I have cut a little square out of the panel so i can always hit the switch without taking the panel off however u will only be able to open the glass part from inside from now on!!

Try buying a can of silicone spray, and spray the rubber weatherstrip that seals trunk lid to body, and any pivot points on hinges and see if it helps.

How to install rear window on 1995 dodge ram

Chrysler Full-Size Trucks 1989-1996 Repair Guide
Stationary Side or Rear Window

(see Figures 1, 2 and 3)
You'll need an assistant for this job.
  1. Remove the moldings surrounding the glass.
  2. Have your assistant stand outside and support the glass.
  3. Working from the inside truck, start at one upper corner and work the weatherstripping across the top of the glass, pulling the weatherstripping down and pushing outward on the glass until your assistant can grab the glass and lift it out.

To install:
  1. Clean the weatherstripping, glass and glass opening with solvent to remove all old sealer.
  2. Apply liquid butyl sealer, in the glass channel of the weatherstripping and install the weatherstripping on the glass.
  3. Apply a bead of sealer to the opening flange and in the inner flange crevice of the weatherstripping lip.
  4. Place a length of strong cord, such as butcher's twine, in the flange crevice of the weatherstripping. The cord should go all the way around the weatherstripping with the ends, about 18 in. (457mm) long each, hanging down together at the bottom center of the window.
  5. Apply soapy water to the weatherstripping lip.
  6. Have your assistant position the window assembly in the channel from the outside, applying firm inward pressure.
  7. From inside, you guide the lip of the weatherstripping into place using the cord, working each end alternately, until the window is locked in place.
  8. Remove the cord, clean the glass and weatherstripping of excess sealer and leak test the window.
  9. Install the moldings.

I hope help you with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.

Is there any information about the window gussets for the 2007 Forester? My friend warned me about the rattle before I bought it. My has already rattled.I talked to other owners with the same problem,...

window gussets rattling? are you talking about the rubber piece behind the outside mirrors? if there is any concern with these gussets cousing a rattle i've never heard of it,when the gusset goes bad or gets deformed they cause a wind noise while driving, air seeps between the gusset and the weatherstrip, gussets deform over time because the window rides up it,the gusset actually moves back and forth against the weatherstrip due to the window constantly putting pressure on it when it rises and lowers hope this helps,by the way this is a easy fix,if this is the concern, roll the window down, open door and push mirror toward weatherstrip,if it doesn't correct you'll need a new gusset

Rear Hatch Window

This could be a simple door adjustment. Have someone sit in the car while you push in on the hatch. See if the light goes off . If the light goes off, then adjust the striker plate so the hatch closes tighter.
