Yes it is the Square Black Boxes. Did you look in the Owners Manual? Sometimes they put the Fuse Diagrams in the Back.

I need to know where the fuel pump relay is and how to replace it

you did'nt specify what year, make, model of vehicle but will try anyway.fuel pump relays are usually found in the main engine fuse box under the hood.look for a black box either on driver or passenger side fenderwell of the car. open the box and look under the lid cover for fuse and relay locations.the relay should be a square black object about 2inches in size and simply plugs into the fuse box like a fuse.just pull upwards on the relay and it should just unplug, then install the new one in same place, just push it into the open fuel pump relay position.very simple to do. if you don't find a main fuse box, please repost your question with all the information on the vehicle as possible.thank you for choosing fixya.com

A/c - heater fan won't blow - tested fan motor directly to battery and that works. just not with the switch

Either the switch is gone, or the fan relay is faulty.
I don't have my manual at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly where it is, but it's a small black square object usually mounted on the passenger side firewall with 1 to 2 others, or in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

Fan has stopped working causing over heating, what is the most likely cause

There are 3 possible things;
The fan motor itself
The coolant temperature switch, which operates the fans, usually screwed into the engine block near the thermostat housing. Have to drian radiator to change it.
The relay-- It's a small black square shaped object, some are located in the fuse box in the engine compartment, and some are mounted on a bracket on the firewall, passenger side.
Could be in the wiring that connects these components.
To check the fan motor----- disconnect the wire plug from the fan motor, use jumper wires directly from the battery to the connector on the fan, If the fan works, then either the temp switch is bad, the relay, or the wiring. If the doesn't work, that is bad and needs to be replaced.

My chevy lumina has only 39000 original miles. recently the temperature guage started fluctuating from one extreme to the other while driving. the driver's side fan comes on once in awhile and the...

You don't say where you are.

You probably need a new thermostat. Cost for the part should be about $10. Labor to change it out should be $50 to $70, it takes less than an hour. Spring for fresh coolant, too.

The fans: the driver's side fan is activated by the A/C. I know, I know it's winter. But if you're running your defroster, you're running your a/c too. When the a/c is on, the fan can be on, too.

Signal lights, fuel gage, temp gage not working. Could it be the signal light relay? Where is it located?

This sounds like you have blown a fusible link! Check your main fuses first.

TEMP GUAGE

There is 1 Relay Switch and a Fuse that Operates this Guage Also. Check in the Fuse Boxes for these first.
