If it has an electric fan a would replace the coolant temperature sensor.If it a mechanical fan i would replace the clutch on the fan.

there is a strong possibility that the impellers on the waterpump are broken!!!!. they are made out of plastic and are notorious for breaking. ck this first have seen it countless times. make sure new waterpump has metal impellers.

I have had this happen with my ranger. Changed everything I could to try to fix the over heating. It turned out that I had a small leak in my head gasket and it was allowing exsaust gas to go into the cooling system witch was over pressurizing it. Also the air from the exsaust will heat up much faster than liquid making your thermostat to read hot and will not be able to blow hot air in the cab because there is no liquid going to the heater core. This happened to me when my blet came off and I tryed to make it home. If you had it over heat for a long peirod of time it may have ripped the head gasket.

You can remove the thermostat, but this is not the best thing in the world for your engine. Your thermostat lets your engine reach operating temperature quickly for best oiling. Over cooling is almost as bad as over heating and since your thermostat is relatively cheap (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_THERMOSTAT-PERFORMANCE-Mr--Gasket_17360031-P_N6003E_P%7CGRP2061A____) 9.99 at advance, you should just go ahead and change it out. You oil pressure sending unit has gone bad, it's common to go bad and some even leak oil.
The oil pressure sensor is on the back of the block on the passenger side, you can get to it from the top and not from the bottom. There are (2) switches back there that screw in to the block and you can only see it from the top of the engine. The Oil Pressure Sending Unit is the one wire harness with a green and white strip on it. The other switch has more wires to it.
When you pick up the new sensor, make sure you get the right one. make sure you get the Oil Pressure Sending Unit which sends variable oil pressure and has only one quick connect for the wire connector. The oil pressure switch is the one that only activates the oil light on older engine.
Once you get the right part at Auto Zone for around $9.00, disconnect the wire clip with the green with white strip on it. and use a deep spark plug socket with a extension and u joint to get the sensor out. The sensor comes with teflon tape already and no oil should leak out from the block. It as simple as replacing a bolt and reconnecting the wire connector.

check to see if eans coming on if they dont then its fan relay if they are the rad is pluged or ther is an air pocket in the cooling system there should be a bleeder on it
