How did you determine that the oxygen sensor needed to be replaced? Also, do you have access to an OBD2 code scanner?

  • Anonymous Oct 25, 2012

The scanner showed P0141. On calling two mechanics to get it fixed, they both said that was an 02 sensor but needed to know which one ??????

That solves the mystery. Many thanks everyone.

P0141 indicates oxygen sensor 2 in bank 1. Bank 1 is on the side of the engine where the first cylinder is.

Your firing order (and the location of your cylinders) can be found here:

And further reading on the code you pulled can be found here:

SOURCE: looking for o2 sensor on 02 accord

Yes this will work if it says direct fit oe replacement and not universal. The universal replacements never work because you have to cut the plug off of your and wire it on the new one. The Engine code is the 8th character of the vin. You can also look under the hood on the engine label and get the code there.

SOURCE: need to replace 02 sensor bank1 sensor 2

Bank 1 is the O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold just about where the exhaust pipe connects to the exhaust manifold.

SOURCE: I have 1997 honda accord 4 cyl vtec..I need to

It's a couple of 10mm bolts on top of the transmission. You might need to remove the air cleaner intake tube, etc to see it. It will have wires and a plug on it. Google a pic of the 97 Accord VSS to get an idea of what it looks like. eBay is the cheapest way to go in replacing it. Parts stores are over priced on this.

Where is the front 02 sensor located on 2004 mazda tribute

The 4 cyl model would have two, the 6 cyl models would have four sensors.
Each exhaust pipe has a sensor in front and another after the catalytic converter.

I have 2 codes showing on my 2004 chrysler sebring.? P2096 AND p0137. what do they mean and how do I know what parts to get to fix the problem.

P0137 O2 Sensor Bank 1, Sensor 2 Voltage Low
P2096 Down Stream Fuel System Bank 1, Sensor 2 Lean

There are 3 possible engines in your vehicle, a 2.4L 4-cyl, a 2.7L V-6, and a 3.0L V-6. If your car has a 4-cyl then there is only one downstream O2 sensor. This is where you need to start the diagnosis for code P0137.
While it would be nice to assume that the sensor is faulty, the sensor wiring between sensor and PCM could be the problem as well.
That said, you are looking for a DOWNSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR. I strongly advise that the replacement be OEM compatable. Avoid Universal Replacement types that use **** connectors to make them work.
Good Luck!

2004 Dodge Stratus Sedan. engine light stays on,

Take the vehicle to any auto parts store that offers to read the fault codes with a scanner for free and find out what that code is. If it shows Upstream or Downstream O2 sensor replace the O2 Sensor. There is a catch, dodge had an issue in the 2000 - 2004. The ECM will show a fault code that indicates the Catalytic converter is faulty. This is actually a faulty Downstream O2 Sensor. If you get a Catalytic converter fault code replace the O2 sensor first if you still have the problem then replace the converter.
