Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Antilock brake system.TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module

SOURCE: '93 Jeep Gr. Cherokee 4x4 switch warning

this switch does not switch the vehicle from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive. Grand cherokee have a manual shifter for that. The 4x4 switch is on top of the transfer case and tells the driver information display what 4 wheel drive mode the Jeep is in. ex..if you have selectrac, in 2 wheel the rear wheels on the display will light up, in 4 wheel all 4 wheels will light up, in 4 wheel low it will have the word low lit up in yellow. This is the only purpose for this switch and a bad one will not affect the functioning of the 4 wheel drive. Check out Rockauto.com and a new one can be purchased for about 35 dollars. If you call the dealership and ask for a 4 wheel drive switch, they will have no clue what you are talking about. The actual name is " 4WD indicator light switch"

Have 1997 ford truck 4X4 switch on dash. Replaced gem module with new one but it doesn't engage 4X4 and light on dash still doesn't come on. Checked fuse inside of cab #23 good. Had ford dealership check...

If its the push button type of switch, that could be bad. You can buy them off ebay for $30. It could be the switch thats bad, but that also triggers a Transfer Case Control Module, which would be the 2nd thing to look at

I hear a ticking noise light if my turn signal was on but it is not and wont stop waht could it be

The turn signal flasher and the hazard flasher are both integrated in to the hazard warning switch on the dash, this is acually called a Hazard Warning module, there is a GM bulliten for this,it is acually a recall for the complaint your having, the GM bulliten # is 03043A and the dealership will replace the Hazard Warning switch module at no charge to you,GM knows about the failing switch and that is why they issued the recall on them,so i suggest you bring that car into the dealership so they can replace it at no charge parts and labor, bring the campaign number that i gave you that way theres no guesswork.oh and it only takes about 10 min to replace. Good luck and hope this helps.

How to change 4wd light indicator on 2000 4Runner

Have to remove dash panel. Some panels are easily removed others require dash removal. I would reccommend buying a repair manual (20$) and determine if its worth time, tools, and money. If your 4X4 works just fine the absence of the light has to annoy you enough to replace it

The clicking noise is the faulty flasher relay module, it's been know that the flashers are still funtional and you can hear them working but don't have enough voltage to activate the lights. I could be wrong. LOL Good luck and hope this helps.
