2002 mazda tribute, completely diabled. Anti theft light on.

Interior light will not even come on. checked battery, its 14 amps. checked power to both fuse blocks, have power there. won't even let me put it into nuetral with the key on. keyless entry will not work. anti light is flashing. is there a code to try or does it have to go to the dealer.

    I have a 2002 Mazada Tribute. I tried to jump start a friends car and ever since my alarm system doesn't work. This system was installed over a year ago. The old system is still there so I can use the keyless entry but no alarm. The New system but doesn't work but the red light still comes on.



    As I drive down the road my locks keep unlocking and relocking. I think that when my car is not on, the locks are doing the same thing. Can any one help?

I made the mistake of removing my battery terminals for cleaning, on a 2002 cvx Monaro. Battery is fully charged tight clean connections but no power to any dash light or ignition.
If you have no power anywhere in the system - check the main fuse. It should be in the engine bay fuse box.

If the anti theft light is blinking and you say that everything else fine.. My first thought is that the key is not programmed to the vehicle. The key has a internal chip that must be programmed to vehicle in order to start. Now my other question is, Is the key your using for the vehicle the original key or have you just recently had a key made? Regardless, in order for the yur Tribute to start, the key. Or keys have to be program to vehicle by your neighbor dealership. Thats the reason for your anti theft light is blinking

simple. with the key in the ignition. take the code on the alarm card that came with the car enter the code into the ignition by turning key on then off in a sequence for example 4-5-3-7 times

Sorry this can not be shut off it is part of a complete anti theft device that even monitors the ignition key you can unhook that horn which goes off or siren alarm which i would do. and if you have the remote for it change your battery in it as well.

14 amps under load isnt enough, plus the brushes in the alternator may be getting short, thats why the light is sometimes on. Ideally the alternator should be checked while the light is on.

I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute. The battery light
Check the grounds for the alternator and the battery. Low charging can be loose belt or that the grounds are loose, dirty or broken. If everything else checked was fine I would check all grounds this is a commonly overlooked problem. Also check for a draw on the battery. Use a test light for this between the neg. cable and the neg. post of the battery. You want to use a test light not a volt meter, for the test light will light if there is a draw. If you use a volt meter it will read voltage even with no draw, you need to be concerned with amperage not volts.
