2005 Hyundia Elantra alarm goes off for no real reason

For some reason I can not figure out my car's alarm started going off today. It would go off for about a minute or two at a time and then do it again about every two minutes. I opened and closed all the doors, the hood, and the trunk - which seems to have made the alarm stop going off for now, however this created a new problem. Although I can still lock my doors using the key remote, I can no longer "engadge" the alarm. It supossed to be that you hit the lock button once to lock it, and then a second time to set the alarm. The car used to let out a friendly little "chirp" to let me know the alarm was set, but now refuses. Please help!!

Thank you for trying to help me. I really do appreciate it. However, a few months ago the alarm kept going off for no reason, and then the car wouldn't start. We ended up jumping it to get it to the auto store and replaced the battery. Is it actually possible that my battery is going bad again so soon? Also, a few days ago the check engine light was on and when we checked the codes, it was a bad O2 censor. Now I haven't replaced that yet. Could that have anything to do with it?

So I had a friend check out the battery and tighten everything up on it. He said he didn't see any signs of corrosion, but magically after everything was tightened, my prpblems stopped. You're a genius! Thank you so much for all your help!

When a battery starts to go bad it will set the alarm off constantly. Check the date on your battery and if it's between 3 and 4 years old most likely this is the cause. I had it happen before.

check the terminals and make sure that there isn't any corrosion. Your battery is probably a side mount and you'll get corrosion under them also. Second check and make sure that both terminals are tight. They have a tendancy to loosen every now and then. Third, I've never heard of a O2 sensor causing that type of problem but I'd get it changed anyways. Atleast you can improve the gas mileage and it will make the vehicle run better. I've replaced batteries that I installed new at work and had to replace them even before a year had gone bye. Let me know what ya find.

2000 Hyundia Elantra Windshield wipers stuck in up position. Is it a Fuse or the Motor?

Turn on key & wipers--try to move wiper arms--not real hard--may break something--sometimes wipers will start moving.Next--have motor tested--then check for fuse, fusible link, or circuit breaker--depends on make of car. If fuse--replace--if other take to qualified mechanic.

2001 HYUNDIA ELANTRA AUTO TRANS THE TRANS

You really need a test drive by a tech. Any shop should be able to do that and give you a firm (written) estimate. It might not be a big deal. Shop around if you need a rebuild, If you need one, ask about their warranty. Believe it or not, a good reference for a tranny shop is the Used Car Manager at the Hyundai dealership. Go in to ask him, not over the phone, and be nice. You're asking for a favor after all. Many dealers do a lot of their work outside the store for reasons of cost. It all depends on the dealership. One will, one won't. Ask.

Car alarm goes off for no reason

I had this same problem just today.Hhowever, I had the remote in my hand and it would not stop the honking!. Since I could get into the car, I released the hood, opened the master fuse box on the left side, and pulled the fuse labeled "Horn Relay".(On the upper left, there are three large, black, square fuses, it is the third and is labeled in the lid). I waited ten seconds and put the fuse back in, no more alarm, no more infernal honking.

Alarm going off all the time.

Too many possible causes for this. Take it into the dealership and have it properly diagnosed. Sounds to me to be a BCM problem (body control module).
