My Jeep has 78,000 miles, just had a brake job 4 weeks ago.
Starts from cold with no problems, but within 5 minutes, as soon as I brake to go around a corner, or come to a stop light, the engine dies, and is very hard to start again. It almost sounds like it is not getting fuel, but the fuel pump was replaced not too long ago. When it finally starts, it runs rough and sounds like it's coughing and sputtering before dying again! Oh, and this just started, like today, it's been fine.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks so much for your help!
My 2000 Grand Cherokee had the same problem, without all the sputtering, it would just die approaching a stop. We could only keep it running by slightly pushing down on the gas petal when coming to a stop. I replaced the Throttle Position Sensor, but that didn't change anything. A new mechanic I found replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and we've had no problems in a week.
