The truck stalls when we drive it over 35 mph. we aren't sure what could be the problem we gotten a tune up, new battery , and replaced a sensor what else could be the problem. my gut tells me fuel pump or fuel filter.
Yep fuel pump failing too weak or fuel filter stopped up, fuel system too lean for engine run higher speed need more fuel.
Don't quite understand. It says it stalls when idle but also says when you go over 35MPH but here is something to look at if you haven't already. The IAC idle air control valve should open at idle to allow air to bypass the throttle plate. If failed and won't open this could be causing your stalling at idle. You mentioned that a sensor was reaced which sensor?

What are the trouble codes? Recently had 0171 and 0174 codes. Engine coughed (or sneezed) upon a start one morning producing this problem resulting in very rough idle and stalling within 2 min of idling. Problem was vacuum hose blown off fuel regulator which is near impossible to reach without removing intake maniforld since the regulator is located between engine and firewall on 5.4l.

This year of ranger had a few flaws, In one case, a break power booster was robbing the vacumm, you can test this by plugging it off and seeing the differance, but you will have limited brakes. This model year had a problem with a vacuum leak on the manifold. You can check these in many ways, but please don't use starting fluid. The rear of the manifold usually on the drivers side where it seals to the block.
Also, in 2 other cases a cracked head has gave me the same problem. It is caused from a loss of vacuum.

ngine stalling issue at low speeds
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
