With great difficulty is the answer. First get yourself into the front floor space upside down, look with lamp at heater /water pipes leading to heater. if no leaks seen, take to repair shop.

SOURCE: heater core

Ok to replace the heater core in the allante you must first take the door off the glove box by removing 4 screws in the corners by the hinges. Remove the valence below the dash on the passenger side.

Now follow these steps

1. remove the radio module disconnect all wires and set it aside
2. Remove the bracket that holds the engine control module slide it out and away
3. Remove the duct control unit slide it down and out from under the dash
4 remove the screws that hold the duct work together, rotate to right and then down from under the dash
5. After the prior the heater core is in view. it has two 8 mm screws holding it in place remove them
6. Now go under the hood with a long extension loosen the clamps on the heater core
7. with at least a 12 inch thin bent flat screwdriver at a 90 degree angle loosen the hose and wiggle it off the heater core nipples
8. Go back into the cockpit and remove the heater core by sliding rearward and to the right
9. Angle hater core down and slide out.
10. reverse to reassemble.

Windshield fogging up in a 2004 dodge dakota have already replaced heater core

You need to get a new heater core, and not the cheapest one out there. Dodge heater cores are an exact-fit and the cheaper ones are not as well made either. If you are having to bend slightly or force into the heater box, it won't work.

Antifreeze steam comeing through vents

Your heater core has a leak, it's like a small radiator that heats up and the blower motor blows air thru it to create heat in the car. It is leaking anti freeze into the heater box.

Good chance that it will be a bad heater core if your floor boards are getting wet, but has the inside of your windshield been fogging up. Most of the time when a heater core goes bad, the inside of the windshield fogs up. If the leak is not that bad, you can add 2 to three table spoon of common kitchen black pepper. The Black pepper will work it's way to the leak and plug it up till your can have it repaired properly and the black pepper will clean up easily when the cooling system get's flushed. Good luck and this should by you some time so you can work on it in the summer. Don't use any radiator stop leak, they just make a mess to your cooling systems water ways.

Heater immediately fogs all windows and there is a sweet odor in the cab of 2003 Buick Rendezvous, defroster works fine, but will not clear the windows after heat is put on

Sounds like a possible heater core failure(hole in it) the smell indicates to me the coolant(anti-freeze) is leaking into the passenger compartment.
Check the carpet in front of the front passenger seat for moisture, this would confirm heater core leak.
Good luck !

Window fogs up after driving for awile. Just

The mildew smell you refer to could be anti-freeze. When a heater core starts leaking it may allow anti-freeze (which circulates through it for heat) to be blown through the ducts onto the windshield in defrost mode. The repair is to have the heater core replaced. It may wait for the thermostat to open and allow the coolant to circulate before you notice it. Occasionally the carpet on the passenger side may be wet from leakage.

Windows fog up,small anti-freeze smell

The early sign of a heater core leak is the smell of coolant, the reason is that only vapor is leaking now, it will gradually get worse in most cases and coolant will start comming out the heater box condensation drain.

Heater works but defrost fills inside with fog.

your heater core has probably sprung a leak.does the fog smell kinda sweet?....check the floor in the front where the floor mats are for moisture or even puddles of antifreeze.(the replacement of a heater core can be very expensive as the entire dash usually needs to be removed to access the heater core)also look under the engine near the firewall for antifreeze drips.
