I have a problem with a 2001 Lexus RX 300. It seems to be with the VSC sensor itself and not the light. We think ever since my wife was driving through a snow storm and pushed the ECT Traction button, the VSC system has never functioned properly again. When driving the car now, it seems like the system is constantly fighting itself for proper balance or control of the wheels. It feels like the car is stuttering and pulling, Sometiems when accelerating from a standing position, sometimes from turning, sometimes even going straight you can feel a pull through the wheel. We had tried disconnecting the ABS for a while which gets rid of the problem completely. But then we are not driving with it and living in the northeast, it helps to have that capability in the winter time. Can a VSC sensor be reset or replaced completely? How expensive is it to do that? And does a dealer have to do it.

SOURCE: Check engine light is on

no such thing as a catalytic computer... there is a catalytic converter ... part of the exhaust system so they may now be "guessing" that it's an O2 sensor. take the car to autozone... they will scan the codes for free.... post the codes here tho the lads and lasses there are pretty clever and will probably tell you what the codes mean.

SOURCE: Check Engine light and traction control light stay

there is nothing to do here but have the dealer run a scanner test to see what trouble codes were set with the lights coming on, until then there is no way to tell what the problem might be as there are over 200 possibilities.

SOURCE: trac off and check engine light for lexus es 300

A week ago, on my Lexus ES 300 (2001), "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights came on. This coincided with me filling the gas tank to the brim to round the dollar to be paid. I cleaned the gas tank cap and the tank opening. However, both lights persisted. On the same day, when I turned on the car again, there was a hesitance, a stuttering to come on. Both "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights were still on.

The next day, the car wouldn't come on at all. It sounded as the battery was dead. I couldn't even jump start the car. So, I got a new battery from Costco ($59) and put it in. It took 15-20 seconds of cranking to get the car started. Once it was started, the engine sounded fine and the RPM normal. The "Check Engine" light was off. However, the "Trac Off" was still on. I cleaned the gas tank cap one more time.

The next morning, when I turned the car on, there was no problems. It came on instantly as it used to be, didn't have any warning lights, and drove smoothly.

My wife got a VSC code on the dashboard and a Check Engine light as well on her 2001 Lexus LX 300. When the mechanic diagnosed the problem, it does not specify which O2 sensor it is. He said he also...

VSC is a Vehicle Stabilization Control. The oxygen sensors have nothing to do with this. Just a heads up, I work for BOSCH and I make these oxygen sensors everyday. The VSC is exactly what it states. One of the Oxygen sensors could be bad, but from someone that makes these. The aftermarket is the same thing as the OEM. Some will say "that's not true" but the only difference is the marking on the part. I would have the mechanic pull everyone out and check for break down. It would really be a good idea if you change all of them. Good Luck.

2000 Lexus RX 300 - VSC Light comes on and brake pulsation

you most likely have an "air gap" or "tone ring" problem with one of your sensors or tone rings. i would suggest letting a technician diagnos which problem it is, as it is a diagnosis that requires some experience.

Lexus RX300 engine light n VSC light comes on

VSC means Vehicle Stability Control.

It comes on when the sensor send a signal that the vehicle is not stable on the ground.....check the wheel balancing and alignment and the air pressure of your tires too.

Good luck.

Lexus 330 Engine light is fleshing and VSC light on

Basically, stop driving it until you can get the transmission serviced.
If you can safely jack up the vehicle and support it so it cannot fall on you, you can possible save some money by checking all the electrical connections to the transmission. Sometimes the problem is a loose or bad connection. If that does not work, your safest bet is to bring it to a certified mechanic, especially one who specializes in Lexus.

Rx 300 2001 vsc and check engine light

most likely the problem lies with an oxygen sensor. The most common one to fail is on the passenger side of the engine. you will need a special socket to change it. Be sure to put the vehicle on jackstands. It should take less than two hours-start to finish.

2002 RX 300

I have a 2001 RX 300 and mine has done the same thing. The first time it happened the dealer had me bring it in. It was under warranty, and they replaced something, which I can't remember. Then it happened a year or so ago, and the service rep at the dealership told me that her car does the same thing, and I should just let it reboot itself in a day or so. It did it two days ago driving back from a long trip. The service rep said to bring it in because she didn't know what was going on (I think she was new).

It's now resolved itself again. It must be a fluke with the model, but I don't worry about it.
