My transmission was destroyed after a sensor that monitors/runs the transmission apparently malfunctioned in my 2001 S80 T6. I know there have been a lot of recalls and class action suits around the Volvos with T6. Where can I join one or how can I participate in the rewarding of settlements? Volvo does not list the sensor that is related to transmissions as a recall item on my car. Thanks.
They are solenoids that go bad. If you replace one, replace all four solenoids. The kit costs about $100 on ebay. It is a difficult job gaining access to the inside of transmission. Pay someone that knows how it's done.

If you are talking about the thermo electric cooling fan, its operation is independent of the car's electical system. It is switched on and off by the engine temperature. When you park, the engine heat soaks upward to heat the thermostat turning the fan on. It will run until the engine cools down and the thermostat switches it off.

most likely the dealer. unless you have a vag com (for VW n Audi) system or similar system to what the volvo dealers use to check for engine codes
