Have to plugs and wires been replaced according to the manual every 30/60K? Check for play in the distributor. Look in the throttle body with a light for oil on the intake floor, this would be a bad lower intake gasket. Make sure to use the factory recommended spark plugs, it only likes Champions.

There's alot that can cause this problem. Check battery cables and clean. Drive to autoparts place for free diagnostic. It could be a throttle position sensor, EGR valve, bad gas, bad coil, bad plug wires. Just to name a few. Hopefully the diagnostic test will pinpoint it.

I also agree it sounds like a fuel pump issue. Its easiest to remove the box (6 bolts {need impact wrench} disconnect wires at plugs and disconnect gas filler hose) and lift box up. A hoist is easiest but 6 people can lift it easily. The fuel pump can easily then be replaced. Takes about 1 1/2 hrs. to do entire job this way and its so much easier!
Good Luck!

I have a 1990 Buick LeSabre with the 3800 engine. Recently the engine
has began to miss under mild acceleration. It is not just a misfire
where the spark plug failed; it is more abrupt.
when the engine idles it almost always acts like it the engine is
misfiring and it is like the engine is actually kicking back every
nowand then. From inside the car while idling, I can feel the same
phenomenon. I kicks!
I am not sure where all of the notorious sensors are located and I not
feeling like they are at fault. The only one that I feel could be the
culprit is TDC sensor or and anti knock device if it has one. Of course
it could be the ignition module, I guess.
What I am thinking is that if this engine had an old fashion
distributor, it would be as though a cylinder ignited out of sequence
or before the piston reached the point that is near TDC. Could it be
probable that the the module allowed the spark to set off another
cylinder sporadically? Does this motor have an actual distributor cap?
Could there be a short between some terminals?
It is not valves because for short periods of time the "miss" will vanish.
The check engine light is not on!

sounds like it is in the throttle sensor or idle control valve causing problem not responding fast enough to take over also try the fuel filter could be clogged.
