On the upper left stalk next to the steering wheel, push the flipper up (or down) until "OIL" shows up in the display. Then press the BC button on the end of the same stalk. The oil level should be displayed.
I believe this model has no dipstick (my 2008 335i does not) so this is the only way to do it short of draining the oil and measuring it.
Serivce engine light could mean a lot of things from your gas cap is not tight to oil cahnge to spark plugs are dirty. You need to pull the codes to find what is wrong with it.
the answer is 5w-30 synthetic oil only,no other oil is correct. MUST BE SYNTHETIC. hope this helps if you need more help get back to me Please rate my fix Thanks Ray
losen the drain plug with a oil pan close by then let drain into pan until no more oil comes out tighten plug back to bottom of the motor. find oil filter and losen the filter with drain pan underneath let drain and replace with new oil filter then wipe everything clean and then start filling motor with new oil ...... easy maintanence
nice car , oil filter is located near left side engine on bottom of oil pan . if that doesnt work , go to www.ytb.com/gizelle and click on " view company presentation ".
The N54 engine takes 7 quarts of oil with every oil change. But you shouldnt have to worry about that in the US because BMW covers all maintinace for the fist 4years or 50k miles. its not that hard to do though if you do need to perform it yourself.
