1998 Ford Expedition with premium sound system. I removed the factory radio and installed an aftermarket radio had no sound coming from it, so I disconnected and installed the factory radio back in the vehicle and still no sound what so ever. The display lights up and you can go thru the menu am,fm,cd changer,tape, I also plugged headphones into the rear passenger area (NOTHING) just will not play sound thru the speakers. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

f it's the premium sound system it has an amp. There should be an aftermarket install kit for models with an amp. Also there is a class 2 interface that can be wired in so the aftermarket radio will have a wake up power supply on models where the BCM is the power mode module.

Easiest and best way to put a aftermarket radio in any vehicle is to buy a radio plug adapter at Walmart for $10. No factory wires cut just wire the plug to the radio and plug it in.

May have a factory amp, if it does power the amp with the antenna lead from the radio.

thats easy the dash panel around radio just pops off with flat head screw driver and 4 bolts hold radio in.however the gem is not behind the radio its behind the fuse block in the dash. in addition if your radio is not working it could be a bad fuse or bad wire .does the radio light up?if so then its not a bad fuse or wire .in witch case check your model xlt eddie baur etc some model have just basic radio other have radio with external amp in the dash behind radio these often go bad it is then up for you to decide to get original equipment to work or install aftermarket radio in some cases after market radio is cheaper and depending on the model you purchase perform better .yah unfortunetly car manufactures install cheap radios in all vehicles wage your options aftermarket radio cd player say sony brand usually around 60$ and shud only take 1 hour to intall hope this helps good luck

I need to have more info about how you installed it, did you use rca wires from the radio to the amp.? Make sure the sub setting on radio is turned on. Make sure rca wire are in the input connection and not output, also check you connection from radio that they're in rite place. I really need more info about the map of your wireing

need to wire the power wire for the amplifier to the remote wire on the aftermarket radio usually a blue wire on the after market radio

depending on u installing aftermarket or factory radio, the plugs in your expedition dont really matter, its the ones on the back of the radio your installing that need to be there. first you have to find out which wire/wires are hot (+) and which ones are ground (-) you can do this with a very helpful tool called a test light. use metal of car to find your hot wire, then use the hot wire you just found to locate a suitable ground location, can be wire or metal of vehicle. then about your speakers, they will usually be different colors, the easiest foul proof way is to partially remove the door speakers one at a time, when you see what colored wires connect it, it will be the same ones to connect in your dash. good luck!

This is the most common problem with self installs.The best thing to do is to get the car radio installation plug,it will plug into the factory plug for your factory radio and will give you a color coded pigtail to wire into that usually matches up perfectly with new aftermarket car radios.If the wires are already cut then you best bet is to extend the wires so that they are easy to work with hookup the power,ground,antenna and try dirrerent combos to isolate each speaker and label the wires accordingly.
