Re: 2002 Jag X-Type with oil leak

First off, thank you for replying to my question, it was very helpful. I'm a bit confused, according to autozone's repair guide, it said to remove drive shaft, remove transfer case, then you could reach the oil pan gasket. So do I have to indeed remove the transfer case or can that stay on? Also which is the "sump"?

I have to add anitfreeze once aweek in my 2002 x-type 2.5 jag there is no leaks under or around the motor and the heat gets hot

Unfortunately it sounds like you may have a head gasket fault, I would double check for leaks internally and externally if none then arrange to have the engine checked .

Changing oil in jaguar 2002 s type? Where is the oil filter?

jag-you-are would prefer that you take your car to one of their service centers!! probably has an internal filter element that needs special equip. to access and change out.lot of high end cars have that type of filter now. my brothers mercedes mid-1990s doesn't even have a tranny dip-stick! need special tools to check level! hard to be a 'shade-tree' mechanic anymore!
good luck!

Motor oil pan leaking

labor rate is the biggest factor, if you live around San Francsico area the labor rate is $185.00 per hour to fix that. I know the engine would need to come out, so its possible to have a $2,000.00 labor cost.

My 02 axiom goes through oil too.

Use 10w30 oil. The heavy oil 10w40 will cause the pinging due to the hydraulic cam advance oil valve control. It is not uncommon for these motors to use oil between changes according to the isuzu rep. Have you changed the pcv valve? How much oil is it using? reply

What type of oil should i use? for a 2002 jag.

A quick call to any jag dealer should give you specifics (or your owners manual) My personal recomendation is a synthetic 20w/50. Synthetics usually cover a wider range than indicated on the label, and will out perform any conventional lubricant.(regardless of brand) Therefore 20w/50 will give you all the protection you need against wear and will still retain a low pour point in temperature extremes.

Hi Celina
I have done a bit of research, your s type may not have the bluetooth fitted, here is a good site for any questions for your jaguar. http://forums.roadfly.com/forums/jaguar/jaguar_s_type/6924688-1.html
The link is a person who wants to add bluetooth to his jag, follow the thread it sounds like an expensive option$1500. Your phone maybe compatible bit only if you have the option fitted.
hope this helps

1992 Honda Accord Oil Leak

Check the threads on the new sender/switch. They should be slightly tapered. Some of the less expensive replacement parts have straight threads, try a new part from the Honda dealer. The grey/white stuff is teflon type pipe sealant, this is the correct material to use on the sender threads. Clean the threads in the block very well first.
