SOURCE: Oil leak near Oil Sensor of 1990 Lincoln Towncar.

The wires are attached to the oil sensor with a small clip. Disconnect the wire from the oil sending unit by simply pulling it off the unit. Use a deep socket (1 1/16) to remove unit.

Testimonial: "Got the wire off. Looks like a special socket to get the sensor off. Thanks for the fast response"

SOURCE: my oil filter is leaking and it is tight

If anyone else has this problem, I'm betting its your oil filter adapter gasket. Of course check to see if the problem is just a bad oil filter seal but mine was not. The oil filter adapter is like 10 - $15 at Auto Zone or Napa. If you feel you can't do the job yourself then take it to the auto repair shop. It's only four bolts and change out the gasket but you must drain the coolant cause the water run through the same housing and it's kind of a pain to get to on the vehicle. Napa gasket p/n is 70801

SOURCE: OIL LEAK & COIL PROBLEM

The oil leak will only cause a COP Coil Misfire---IF,the valve cover O'Ring is leaking oil, onto the spark plug.
If you have a PO304 Code with the check engine MIL Light on,then replace the COP Coil on #4.

Please DO NOT GO TO A DEALER. It is a WASTE OF MONEY

A 12 year old could change a coil, on your LS
All you need is a 7mm socket and wrench, for the coil cover and the one coil screw.
I just did one on my 2004 LS V8 in Feb. It was $59.00 at the local auto parts store
I don't dislike dealers, there is just no reason to go there ,except to buy parts, and only when the parts are dealer only.
Any repair shop can work on any vehicle.
If you ever have issues and you will have lots,I have all the shop manuals and wiring diagrams and Emission Diagnostic manual

I have oil dripping. Where could that be coming from?

Is it oil or transmission fluid? The color will tell you, transmission will be red. Best bet is to clean the engine and then watch closely to see where the oil is coming from. Possible locations include Valve cover, bad oil filter seal, leaking heads, bad main seal.

2004 gmc yukon lite came on low oil pressure just had oil change 5 days ago checked it was low about a qt. Has 157,000 miles what can be the cause

There can be alot of causes, such as valve covers leaking, oil pan gasket leaking, oil filter leaking, rear main seal leaking, front timing chain cover seal or gasket leaking even bad rings. Does it smoke out of the back? Your valve seals could be leaking. Best way to find out if you have a leak is to inspect the valve covers manually, or take newspapers and lay them under the entire engine on the ground, and it will leave the tell tale stain of a leak. Hope this helps.

Leaks oil from the back of the engine but its not transmission

if you are leaving an oil trail maby smoking a little and see oil dripping from above your tranny or rolling off the tranny, it could be your oil sending unit has gone bad. i dont know what your driving other than a chevy so check out youtube videos to locate oil sending unit for your car. some are located on the backside of the motor topside like on my chevy truck, some on the side by the oil filter.. without knowing more i cant tell you where it is.. i hope this helps..

I know that there is an oil leak but i cannot tell exactly where.

Oil leaks can be a pain to locate so I will give you a few tricks I've picked up along the way for locating oil leaks. Start by cleaning/degreasing the area. You want to remove as much of the old residue as possible. Then you can do several things from here.

1. Purchase and oil dye additive (this additive makes the oil glow when a black light i shined on it) and run the engine for a little while then re-inspect with black light to find locations where dye is concentrated.

2. After cleaning, spray the are that you suspect the leak is coming from with a spray on type foot powder(powdre sprays on white providing an excellent contrast to trace leak). Run the engine and follow the oil trail to source of leak.

Oil is leaking bad and oil pan gasket has been replaced what else could be leaking really bad like 2 quarts in 50 miles e-mail [email protected]

is the leak visually on the ground, then it seems like you could get under car and wipe a few things and see what leaks, thats a big leak, car would be leaving a smoke screen behind you from getting all over exhaust system. I would have to say, REAR MAIN SEAL BETWEEN MOTOR AND TRANS, OIL FILTER NOT TIGHT, Is oil all over the timing belt? front gasket/seal failure, Oil sending unit, is the light on or pressure gauge work?

Oil leak. Burning oil and leaving spots on the ground. Bad burning smell form the oil. Cant see any source from below.

If this is one of the front wheel drive v-8 models, there is a problem with the rear engine seals on some years. The seals open when the engine is hot and allow oil to drip. As the engine cools, the seals rejoin so the leak hides. Sometimes, all it takes is to retorque the existing sealing surfaces.
It may also be valve cover gaskets. The fan and motion of the car will cause these to run the dripping oil along to the rear of the motor like a rain gutter, then onto the exhaust and ground.

My envoy is losing oil...but it is not leaking on the ground. where is it going?

You could have bad piston rings. If they are bad oil could get in the combustion chamber. An easy way to tell is by running your car, if quite a bit of smoke comes out of the exhaust then you have bad rings. Also check your oil filter make sure it is on tight and not leaking.
