Question about 1995 Jaguar XJ6
Hi. I have a 1992 jaguar majestic (33000 miles)always in garage, now have a big brain storm. CAR WAS RUNNING GOOD, CHANGE SPARK PLUGS (sug.serv.for 30+mille)AND I CHECK AIR FILTER CONDITION. TEST DROVE 3 BLOCKS AND ENGINE STALLS,MOVE AND TAPING AIR BOX ENG.START AGAIN AND DROVE BACK HOME (2 BLOCKS) PARKED AND ENG.STALLS AGAIN,OPEN THE HOOD AND FOUND IGN.COIL SPARKING ON THE + SIDE OF COIL,DISCONECTED THE BATTERY AND REP.NEW OEM COIL.. ENG.CRANKS.BUT NO STARTING, CHECK AND THERE IS NO SPARK FROM SEC.SIDE OF COIL.( THERE IS POWER SWITCH ON ON +SIDE COIL) REPLACE CRANK SENSOR AND IGN.MODULE AND STILL NO SPARK AND I SMELL GAS ...WHAT IS GOIN ON WITH THIS UK BEBE??????
If a spark has no path to discharge, it will often find a weak one or create one. If your wires or plugs are so bad that they cannot pass a spark, the coil will discharge elsewhere. It is a great coil. I have seen brand new plugs completely disable an engine. Completely. I have seen wires completely fail on their maiden voyage. The plugs were Champion BRF52 on a Ford, the wires were Belden for a V6 Mercury. I do not recommend Champion plugs, at all. I do however like Belden quality. You would not suspect them, but... Suspect them. Pull one out lay it on a steel part of the engine, and see if it sparks. If not, replace them. For wire, try to start the engine at night, watch in the dark for arcing wires. Replace them.

Check to make sure the firing order on the wires is right. Also make sure the wire from the coil to the cap is tight and well connected at both ends. I have also forgotten to put the rotor back myself more than once..If you have both spark and gas..it has to fire. If one is missing you don;t go....

Hi, since the fuel pump is running fine and there is pressure as you have claimed with all the relay and fuses in good other, then i will advise you check the crankshaft position sensor which also can cause the car not to start.
The crankshaft position sensor is under hood, center, front engine area, rear of crankshaft pulley, mounted in timing cover assembly.

I have had the distributor rotor fail, leaving me stranded - twice. Not sure what can go wrong with them but replacing it was what it took to get it running again.

chances are your distributor got wet. open the distributor, dry the inside and clean the contacts with a piece of sand paper.. thats should give you the spark you need to get started.
if it isnt that check your coil.
your distributor looks like this,,
see its held by two spring clips, open the clips tp open the distributor,, clean it , clean the metal pins inside with sand paper,, put it back up..
