1996 mercedes e320 has O2 sensor, EGR system, and Catalyst not ready. Drove 100 miles on highway and still not ready.

Drove the car 100 miles on freeway to collect enough data but still has 3 not ready codes. Check engine light comes on when he disconnects testing equipment.

well..i am not sure whether this is gonna solve your problem..but i had the same head ache with the check engine & check engine electronics alert on the cluster instrument..i removed the battery terminals for 10 minutes and replaced them & my problem solved successfully..but just beware that you connect them together at the same time with no short circuits which might mislead u with the same problem.

Most likely a gas cap or emissions issue, if you are sure the car is running fine. But you will have to have it scanned to know for sure.

115000 miles on a Benz is not a lot of mileage provided the car was serviced on time and properly. You might want to have someone run a scan for trouble codes to see why the light is on. It could just be a bad 02 (oxygen) sensor. Does the car run OK?

that appears to be a camshaft position sensor performance code. you can start by checking to see if the sensor is working properly, re-check and make sure that the harness is ok by checking the resistance through the harness if all looks well there make sure the computer has the latest software on it by having it scanned at your local dealer. also you can check the reluctor wheel on the camshaft for damage or debris in the way of the sensor.

hope this helps!

Even after your car's problem is fixed, the 96s (engine code M104) are notorious for taking an unusually long time to reset the "all clear" in their OBD (on board diagnostic) system. I had to get three 30-day exemptions from the TN agency's top mechanical advisor, who was well aware of this. The car has to drive a crazy drive cycle, which you can find by googling including the OBD2 and "M104 drive cycle" and I will try to find and post it here. As for fixing the original light, go to Autozone or any chain auto parts store, they'll check and reset the light for ya FREE; write down the code and, if necessary, get the prob fixed. Sometimes it's just a loose gas cap, or an intermittent fault that'll not repeat, if you're lucky.

Ford explorer sportrac evap and catalyst not ready problem how to fix it?

One possible issue is a faulty thermostat. If the engine is not getting up to normal temp the emissions system will not go into closed loop.
I know its hot in Nevada now so thats just a suggestion.
The O2 sensors have heaters to make the exhaust gas hot quick so that the sensors can work.
Is the check engine light coming on - or is it just that the exhaust gas is not hot enough for the test equipment ?

You need to read the codes that your check engine light is showing. Go to Autozone or any place like that and they can read the codes for free. Throwing parts at a car doesn't fix it but finding the source of the problem and then repairing as necessary will allow for better results. Going off the check engine light being on can mean it is anything.

You have two O2 sensors on your car. One just after the head on the header. This is the O2 sensor that tells the PCM what the air/fuel is and the PCM can adjust accordingly. The one BEHIND the catalytic converter (or cat for short) does nothing but tell the PCM that the cat. is working properly. You may be changing the wrong O2 sensor. Also the EGR could be an electrical problem if that is the cause of the emissions failure.

So to review, find out the codes, post back with the codes and everything can go from there.

Not ready status on 04 Hyundai Sonata

The not ready may be for a HEATED O2 sensor and HEATED catalyst. Since these cars are not equipped with the HEATED versions, they would never be ready.

1998 mitsubishi diamante o2 sensor, o2 heater, EGR sys NOT READY

Check the O2 sensor heaters with an ohmmeter. Also test the EGR solenoid valve by applying 12 vdc directly to the solenoid pins.

Disconnect the HO2S.
  1. Measure the resistance between PWR and GND terminals of the sensor. Resistance should be approximately 6 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is not within specification, the sensor's heater element is faulty.
  2. With the HO2S connected and engine running, measure the voltage with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) between terminals HO2S and SIG RTN(GND) of the oxygen sensor connector. Voltage should fluctuate between 0.01-1.0 volts. If voltage fluctuation is slow or voltage is not within specification, the sensor may be faulty.

Obd not ready won't pass inspection

It usually takes more than one drive cycle to clear all monitors to "ready".The vehicle may take multiple "from cold" drive cycles and hundreds of miles to clear all.Drive normally with varied driving and include long coasting down stops.Buy a cheap scan tool ($35) and check monitors as you drive.
DO NOT CLEAR CODES or run the battery dead or you will have to start over!

Toyota camry 2001emission not ready (Readiness == Fail )

The P0420 code, usually associated with a weak cat converter, is in fact often caused by an ageing (weak) downstream O2 sensor. On both my cars at around 150K miles replacing the downstream O2 sensor was all that was needed to clear the code. No cat replacement was necessary. If one actually spends some time reading the diagnostics procedure for this code, they will find that the O2 sensor diagnostic is the first thing to do before replacing the cat converter. The downstream sensor, the one after the cat converter, gets "lazy" with age. This means that it no longer produces voltage signals as it used to. The result is that the voltage swings that come out of it begins to follow very closely the voltage that is generated by the upstream O2 sensor. When this happens, the car computer thinks the cat converter does not do its job (which might as well be the case too, but the O2 sensor is the first thing to try). With a code scanner with live data stream you can see the voltages coming from the O2 sensors.
