Hey I have a 99/2000 VW Jetta and last week it seemed like it got wet, but it did clear itself up and was laying up for a few days. just the other day (again it had not been used for a day or two), it got wet again. So I went out last night and started it and let it run for awhile, and it was running good, so I was topping up my windshield wash when all of a sudden the engine cut out and it was llike it lost a couple if Cylinders. It has lost all powerm, engine light is blinking. Behind on the ground where the exhaust was the ground was wet.
Just wondering what this could be? could it be spark plugs blown, timing belt?, 135,000 km on it, wire problem?
Can anyone help.
Did you over heat her?..sounds like a blown head gasket or ?...water entering combustion chamber from other area..(cracked block, intake manifold leak).....do compression and leak down tests

Hey thanks for getting back to me. No the temp gauge were fine, sitting at normal. It had been wet a few days before after a storm but last night when I started it, it was running fine but then as I said just cut out all of a sudden. And not running on all cylinders.
You still out there my Buddy. Thanks for the advice so far, I am hoping it is not as serious as this, I may that to take it to the dealer, but if you have any more suggestions that would be great.

It is still starting fine, and running, I will check the Air filter connections, my father in-law did change the Air filter awhile back maybe it came loose some how.
The reason I think it got wet is because it had been sitting for a few days we had gotten allot of snow and then rain and it just was acting as if it were wet. Took it for a run last week around the block taking it easy to see if it would dry it self off, and last night when I first started it it was running fine but then after 10 minutes this happened.
But you could be right on the intake I will difinately check the airbox for proper sealing.
If this is the case and it has disturbed the sensors might it have blown a plug or two.?
