Have you been able to check the timing while the car was running?
Sounds like the timing was changed during belt replacement.

SOURCE: 2001 sebring will turn over but will not start

Most Chrysler cars do have an anti-theft system that can cut out the engine.

I would call the service department, with your VIN handy, and see if yours was equipped with one, and what you need to reset it.

If that isn't the problem, your EGR valve might be bad, or the sensor for it. I've seen a lot of cars where if either the valve itself, or the sensor are malfunctioning, the car won't run properly.

I would also check your MAF and IAC, as those can cause the car to not run.

If you can, get an OBDII code scanner, and pull the codes from your car, they might give you a more specific place to look. (Most parts stores will let you take one home, you put a deposit down, and get it back when you bringthe scanner back to them)

SOURCE: need to now where timing marks are located on 1997

Hello carolnaes: My name is Roger and I will help. The picture of the timing marks are attached. I will caution though that Mitchell repair calls this a interference motor. Meaning if the engine turns over with the belt off. The valves of the engine can and may be damaged. I also checked All Data and they said it could possible cause valve damage. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of your answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger39f6dc5.jpg

SOURCE: chrysler 300m 2001 starts after unplugging cam sensor

theres a reflash program that needs to be done on these cars, because of extended crank time and cam / crank syhcronizing out, start there, also i had one with same code and found that aftermarket cam sensors dont work, installed dealer part and had the updated reflashing done and solved the problem.

Crankshaft endplay double the max spec 01 sebring 2.7L

check for after market thrust bearings ( federal mogul ETC) . next option is to have an engineering shop manufacture the thrust bearings . IF you cannot get thrust bearings then you have little option but to junk the crank as a floating shaft will give you problems with timing belt/chain alignment and ignition timing along with crank sensor problems.

Crank no start

run fault codes and check the crank/cam position sensor. Check that the timing belt is driving the cam shaft.

PASSAT WONT START ALL THE TIME. NO CODES

sounds like a Crank Position sensor. It's hitting at random instead of in tune with where the crank is at any given time. So I say "Yep" to your question "Maybe a new crank sensor?" : )

2004 chrysler sebring 2.4l dohc.

Have you ever replaced the timing belt?? If not the problem is likely to be a loose worn out timing belt. A floppy belt will play havoc with the sensor signals and trigger a check engine light and a camshaft sensor code.

Replace water pump on 2001 chrysler sebring

if you have the 2.4 engine, the water pump is external and driven by the timing belt.you need a water pump - timing belt component kit. the 2.7 has a internal water pump driven by the timing chain. here again you should install a water pump- timing kit. 2.7 is more complex and expensive to change
