Ford f150 fule pump

So called fule switch of switch on a Corvette c4 yr 1988???????? What kind of fuel pump issues ? Doesn't have an inertia fuel shut off switch if that's what your think . Ford use's that . Looking at a wiring diagram an testing the electrical circuit with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter is the way to find the problem . Your vehicle use's a fuel pump relay .


Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation

Did you check B+ voltage an ground to fuel pump before you replaced it ? Did you look at a wiring diagram to see what controls the fuel pump ? There is a fuel pump relay in the central junction box , an there is the inertia fuel cut off switch , an then there is the biggest problem on this ford , the fuel pump driver module. The fuel pump driver module is controlled by the engine computer . Yes it should be 12 volts at the pump. i have had this problem at the shop a couple of times and i replaced the inertia switch and it fixed it. Also check the connector at the inertia switch, there is high resistance in the circuit which is causing the voltage to be low.

Hi. There is a ground wire on the frame about half way back. Be sure there is a good connection. Plus check every other ground wire. Do Not spend money on parts until you have cleaned every ground terminal!! This is an on going prob with Ford.

No, the pump is not all the way working. Pump works only when you turn ON the switch to your key and it turn OFF in 3 second to get pressure the tanks,ok.

Did you check the fuel inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel ?

The fuel pump is powered :
the fuse to the fuel pump relay.
The fuel pump relay to the fuel inertia switch
The fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump itself.

At the fuel inertia switch in the kick panel, power from the relay is the Dark Green w/ Yellow stripe wire and the pink w/ black stripe wire is the power. from the fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump.

If you jumper the fuel pump relay, you should hear it run. If not pull the fuel pump relay, and check the pins in the relay socket, pin 30 should be the power from the fuse.



If you have power at pin #30, jumper the relay socket as shown with the red line above, and check the dark green w/ yellow stripe wire at the fuel inertia switch for power.
Press the button on the top of the fuel inertia switch, and check for power leaving the fuel inertia switch on the pink w/ black stripe wire.

This is tests good, check for power at the fuel pump, same pink w/ black stripe wire.
Fuel inertia switch info is in the owners manual, If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :

Check the power supply going into the fuel pump relay. If it is still hot when the ignition is off then your ignition switch is probably the problem.

You mean it turns over but wont start? have you checked the fuel pump inertia switch? it is on the rt side kick panel i believe. will have a reset button sometimes can trip if it gets kicked. can also try beating on tank while spinning over and see if this shakes pump to get it working
