Sometimes they are just on, and sometimes the SRS will flash. Connect to a pro grade scan tool computer and look for the diagnostic trouble codes associated with the fault status.

Only a compatible scanner is going to turn this off.Don't try to do it yourself, as with any air bag/srs (supplemental restraint system), these units contain what amounts to an explosive charge, and if not handled properly, by trained folks, they can very easily cause death, ansd a nasty one at that.As long as the system detects a snag, it will continue to turn that light back on, even if you do get it turned off. The system does a circuit check soon after the car is started, on this system, and the only way to turn off that light is to fix it. Could be as simple as a clockspring, so have it checked. This is one of the only things that I'm not really willing to give much info on, due to the potential for disaster. Sorry, it's just the old grease monkey looking out for your safety. Wow! I cannot believe that they did not resolve the issue and still charged you. There is a very good chance that in keeping your purse under the seat that you inadvertently disconnected or interrupted a connection that triggers the SRS system and when that happens the issue can be resolved by hooking the vehicle up to a computer and resetting the light. If that is not the issue here then the dealer may just have to look in to the steering wheel as the issue may just be coming from there. I would go to another mechanic that specializes in Mercedes Benz and see if the SRS code can be cleared. You may want to check the fuse box as well, there is a fuse that is specifically for SRS. Before you pay any more out of pocket, I would try disconnection the negative battery cable and see if you can reset the light, on some models this will work. Hello there. It appears you have three issues. First your srs light could be several issues by itself. This really needs to be diagnosed by first having the DTC's for srs read out. Next, if it is not a specific window but all windows, it could be as simple as checking and replacing the proper fuse, It could also be a more serious issue involving a control module. Unfortunately if this is not a fuse problem, it is also something that needs to be checked with a diagnostic computer, and or qualified technician. There are several fuse panels located within the vehicle located on one or both sides of the dash as you open the front doors. There are many other fuses located in the Signal Aquisition Modules but again should be serviced by a qualified technician. Your red brake light can be as simple as low brake fluid or worn brake parts causing low fluid levels. If it is anything but low brake fluid this is also something that should be addressed by a qualified technician, I say this because your vehicle is equipped with SBC brakes which are electro hydraulic brakes. If these brakes are not disabled before servicing serious bodily harm or damage can occur. Your srs light may be covered by a campaign or recall at no cost to you other than the diagnostic charge.

Check the seat belt wiring under your front seats, seat belt pre tensioners are related to the srs system and sometimes with seat adjustment these can become loose. The wires are mostly yellow in colour and if you check all connections are tight this may solve your problem

We had the seat pan replaced on the passenger side because the SRS indication came on. My wife put her knee right in the middle of the seat, probably breaking the sensor, while assisting the kids in the back seat.
