Check for voltage at the battery with the engine running. If you have around or more than 14 volts than the alternator is working. If the vehicle starts with a jump and continues to run without starting than the alternator is doing its job. You likely need a new battery. Most auto parts store will check it for free. If the battery is bad replacing it sooner rather than later will be the best choice.

i just went down and got a new battery and put it in .... same problem. im not to sure where else the problem could be. i checked the starter and all the contacts seem to be tight and ciean. i sprayed them with fluid film just to make sure that any further corrosion wouldn t occur.it seems pretty bizzare to me

SOURCE: 2006 mazda 3 dash light will blink

Wonder if it is a reminent of an old security system? Rather than taking it out and leaving a hole and wire splices, they just left the armed light there. Just a thought though. Do you have an owners manual? If so, check through it and see if there is a light, that is supposed to be there. Best wishes to you.

SOURCE: check engine light is blinking

check the spark plug wires for dry rotting and check the order there in starting from the back of the motor left to right the order go's 1..2..3 and then the front left to right the order go's 4..5..6 also make sure that all the wires are plugged in the right order on the distributor also it could be your TCS or "TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM"

SOURCE: electricall problem w/2002 V6 mazda tribute

When that light comes on, it is indicating charging system problem which could mean alternator not charging for one reason or another like loose belt, faulty alternator, or yes, bad battery or connection at battery, for example. First & easiest thing to do is check all your connections to battery, which you've probably done, and make sure they're tight & clean. Make sure belt driving alternator is good & tight, and in good shape. Now boost the vehicle to get it going & test voltage at battery, after you take cables off. My guess is in your case, the voltage will begin to go down, indicating a bad alternator, that will need to be replaced.

Stop in at autozone or similar parts store & get free code scan, then see which way to go from there. Cheaper & faster than guessing.

How do I get the radio lights to illuminate on a 2002 mazda tribute?

If the radio does not light up with the headlamp switch and all other dash lights work, the radio must be replaced.
The Tribute is the same as a Ford Escape, so finding a used replacement should be easy.

Hi I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute, recently the rear lights and dash board lights have stopped working. the front lights are still working. I Have checked all the fuses I can find and all ok. Can you help...

Double check fuses - replace tail light fuse even if it looks good. If that doesn't fix it, then you have bad headlamp switch (headlamp switch also feeds tail & dash lights)

How to adjust the headlamp height, I think my lights are aiming to high. Cheers

I suggest that you make a test of the proper height of your lights, before you attempt an adjustment.
This can be accomplished by driving your Mazda up to within 10 FT of a blank wall.
Next take a piece of masking tape and tape it to the wall at a height of 30 inches.
Put your headlamps on - on low beam - the lights should shine on the tape.

Good luck, and let me know how you make out.
