I have a 03 Honda Element with keyless entry (two faubs). After a brutal and cold snow storm, the locks will no longer respond to the unlock or lock command UNLESS the driver's door is keyed open or keyed locked. The dealership responded by saying the actuator in the driver's door is "probably bad', which will cost around $200. Is there any "reset" sequence that I can perform that might remedy this problem?

If you still have the factory radio, there is a way to split the power wire for the factory radio to the aftermarket radio. All you will need are the power and ground for your aftermarket radio, so the rest of the wires should be untouched on the plug for the factory radio. You can simply re-install the radio within the dash and retain the keyless entry as well as restoring your dome light function. Here's a PDF of some instructions. If you did not keep the radio, I would suggest looking online or ins ome junk yards, because it is needed. www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Honda/PDF/466013.pdf

Okay, here goes-
1. Turn Key to on position.
2. Push and hold **valet button on the stock radio.
**Valet button is skinny bar located between am/fm & cd/tape buttons on stock radio.
Door locks will cycle one time.
3. Press any button on remote one time within 20 seconds. Door locks will cycle again.
4. To program up to 4 additional remotes repeat step 3 for each additonal remote.
5. Turn key off programming is complete.
Thanks for using Fixya, please rate if this helps :)

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.

2004 Honda Odyssey, remote no longer does anything. Using tehe key to lock and unlock works but even using the inside door lock control does not unlock the driver side door.
