Thanks - I was able to remove the bolt and then replace the serpentine belt. The bolt came out by turning the nut on the end and then aligned correctly on replacement through the motor mount.

If you look by the crankshaft pulley to the right you will see a tubular looking shaft about 1" diameter , you will notice you can't get the belt out from under this piece , it has a nut on it , once you take the nut off , you will notice it has a star shaped point on the tip of the stud , it requires a reverse torx socket or wrench to remove the stud , when you get the stud out the tube piece it can be removed , then the belt comes off , replace the belt , now comes the tricky part , fitting that tube spacer back into its spot , it can be difficult , once its in place put the stud back in , and put the nut on and tighten it , your pretty much a pro now . thanks.

Trying to R & R the serpentine belt on a 1999 Olds Delta 88. The belt is routed arond a motor mount. Do I have to jack the motor and disconnect it from the motor mount in order to remove and replace...

yes you do. place a floor jack under engine with a block of wood on top of jack to protect the engine, put just enough pressure on jack to steady engine. remove motor mount, then jack up engine a bit to take belt off. replace the belt then lower jack and attach the mount. on the mount only the outside bolts need to come off to raise engine. do not remove from engine side unless you are changing it or its bad, be carefull when raising engine, pick it up from a sturdy place, not the oil pan. have a good day !!

Do i have to remove motor mount in order to change serpentine belt on 97 pontiac bonneville 3.8 liter not the super charged. any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

If you remove a motor mount without a cherry picker or hoist holding the engine in place, you run the risk of crushing yourself under your car. Each motor mount is two separate pieces of metal held together by a fairly large bolt in the middle. One end of one piece is attached to the engine block the other is attached to the frame of the vehicle. But I would suggest not attempting this without someone's help that knows how to do this. If you're not sure where the motor mounts are it leads me to believe that you will either break an expensive part or kill yourself.

My existing serpentine belt travels around a bracket mounted to the engine to the side of wheelwell. Is it on the correct way? do i need to remove engine mount to remove my serpentine belt?

No you do not have to remove engine mount. There is an idler pulley located to the left of the alternator mounted on the top of the engine. In the middle of this idler pulley/belt tensioner is a 5/8" Bolt. Put a socket on it, turn it away from the belt and slide the belt off. It looks like you have to remove the mount but you will see you do not. A belt routing diagram will help you put it back on. You can draw it yourself before you take it off.

The old belt broke and im not sure how the new one should go it looks like i need to remove th motor mount to install the new belt?

on the bottom of the motor mount is a bolt that you remove. it is on the right side of the bracket at the bottom where there is a spacer that you can remove so you can install the belt

Do i have to disconnect motor mount to replace my drive belt

Depends on the motor. If there is a mount on the passanger side that the belt goes around then yes. Don't fret though, easy to get around. Use a jack and a piece of wood on the oil pan to support the motor so you can remove the motor mount to remove the belt. Again, this is on SOME gm motors not all. On the others the mount isn't in the way at all.

Help: need to install a belt on a 1995 pontiac bonneville

Hey Liv. You have to place a floor jack under the engine oil pan and support the engine. Now you have to remove the engine mount on the passenger end of the engine. you will need a 18mm wrench and some inverted torx bit sockets as the lower stud has to be removed to allow the mount to be removed. The two 18mm bolts will be really tight and should be tightened so when reinstalled. Remove the long bolt that goes thru the mount horizontally also. now you can remove the belt with the 18mm wrench on the tensioner. study the belt routing and remove it. install the new belt and reinstall the mount in reverse order. good luck and don't get hurt loosening the bolts. use gloves if you can.

Can the bottom section of the motor mount be removed to that the serpentine belt can be replace?

the bottom bolt of the motor mount can be removed. There is a cylindrical metal spacer there that drops out when the bolt is removed, leaving plenty of room for the belt.

How does the drive belt come off? do I need to remove the lower bolt from the motor mount? looks like it goes though the mount

YES ON THIS (3.8 LITER?) YOU MUST REMOVE THE MOTOR MOUNT TO REMOVE THE SERPENTINE BELT. NOT THE BEST DESIGN THAT I'VE SEEN. HOPE THIS HELPS. GOOD LUCK
