This week we were driving home and the battery light came on. I noticed that the charge was dropping quickly. As suspected it was the alternator. I had a friend come charge the battery as it would be a couple of hundred to tow from where we were. We drove several more miles and the car died again. We were close enough to an auto parts store so we just changed the alternator. Car started up and was charging fine. The next morning we had a code pop up which was P0120, which i guess is associated with the throttle sensor. Would this could be associated with the power going out on the car and if so is this something that can be reset.

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.
good luck
