2007 Chevy Tahoe code p0121

This week we were driving home and the battery light came on. I noticed that the charge was dropping quickly. As suspected it was the alternator. I had a friend come charge the battery as it would be a couple of hundred to tow from where we were. We drove several more miles and the car died again. We were close enough to an auto parts store so we just changed the alternator. Car started up and was charging fine. The next morning we had a code pop up which was P0120, which i guess is associated with the throttle sensor. Would this could be associated with the power going out on the car and if so is this something that can be reset.

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

2007 Chevy Tahoe code p0120

Hi J, I believe that as the fault code is for the TPS someone may have interfered with the setting adjustment while fitting the alternator. There could be a broken cable or the sensor may have been moved out of adjustment. It should be able to be realigned or in the case of a broken cable, easily reconnected. Regards John

Either the alternator is not charging the battery or you have a draw that is draining the battery. The alternator must have power to the field coil and a good connection from the charge terminal to the battery in order to charge. You can confirm the batrery is charging by checking the voltage at the battery with the engine running. Voltage should be at least 13.5vdc. If yes, see dead battery section at link below.

Dtc code p0121 and p2135 2007 chevy malibu

both codes refer to the throttle position sensor, the sensor is at the throttle plate, on the side of the throttle body. to test remove the connector to sensor, use a ohms meter to test. put 1 lead to top connection and the other to the bottom one. move throttle and the needles on the ohms meter should move very even, move throttle slow to get a good reading, needle should move without no hesitation, if the test is bad replace tps sensor. if the sensor gets to bad, it can have an effect on transmission shifting. after fixing sensor have the light turned of with an obd2 scanner.

My 2003 chevy tahoe, died while i was driving home. when i tried to start it, nothing happens. it doesnt try to crank or turn over, nothing happens, now my ABS and battery light is on.

OK if only 4 months old, charge it with an external battery charger. Once vehicle is running the quick and still most valid test I make is:
Running, with no accessories on, charge volts on volt meter (not dash gauge) should read between 12.9 &14volts. Turn all accessories and headlights on high beam. Volts should not read below 12.5v at idle and should not creep lower after running at any time, even after ten or fifteen minutes. If voltaqge is not as specified alternator has failed and needs replacement.
