SAE J1850 PWM (pulse width modulation)
on Fords at 41.6 Kbps ---is a communication
bus Protcol

So I have no idea what your issue is,unless your
having trouble getting a code reader or scanner
to see any system data

I would double check all your wiring, especially the grounds
you may have removed during your head work

SOURCE: 97 FORD E250 VAN SHIFT LOCKED IN PARK

check the brake lights to see if they work ithey do then the problem is in the locking mechanism, however if the brake lights sont work then first check the fuse, check the wires and the connector that hooks up to the brake switch under the pedal and if it is dammaged repair as needed and if yo get the lights working yo have made the lock to work also!!

Does it seem to turn over quickly? If so i'd suspect the timing belt broke considering the rattling noise heard before it stopped.

SOURCE: how to fix obd2 code 1443 on 96 ford ranger emisson test failed

It is usually carbon pieces from the evap carbon canister clogging the purge solenoid and purge flow sensor. There should still be a one piece purge solenoid and purge sensor with hose assembly available. You will also need to replace the carbon storage canister.
After replacement disconnect the negative battery cable, hold your foot on the brake pedal for 30 seconds, then reconnect the battery.

93 ford tempo, changed neutral safety switch. worried i may have broken the kickdown lever, reattached all the linkage to it and now the transmission won't shift into 2nd gear until about 35mp

What about the rest of the shift points. 2 to 3 and 3 to 4? If the others are normal than the problem is with the 1-2 internals and not the T-V linkage.
It seems the transmission Is acting as if the throttle is wide open; for the 1-2 shift, therefore there is something in the linkage is broken or out of adjustment since your work. The last step before opening up the transmission to replace the TV linkage is to make sure the external TV cable linkage is set up right, and after is verified, if you are still seeing WOT upshift points that function of the internal to external kick down parts will need to be repaired. Sorry.

If you know a good local independent transmission specialist you might see him and get some advice.

Protege automatic transmission wont downshift to pass

Isn't the kickdown vacuum operated on older cars? If so, would poor engine vacuum or leak therein cause the tranny not to downshift?

I have a 1994 ford tempo that has issues shifting. It starts fine goes into all gears . it shifts from first to second gear at 35mph then shifts again at 45mph. What could be the issue? I changed the...

You may need a transmission shop for this.
Some older cars used a vac modulator to control shift time, but I don't see one listed for a 94 Tempo. Whatever Ford uses to control shift time may be faulty, or the kickdown cable to the throttle body may be sticking. It could have a solenoid inside that does what the modulator once did.

1st shift in the morning is fine, after the 1st stop, the trans will not shift out of 1st unless i do a full let off of the thottle. Does not produse any error codes. 100,000 miles, f-350, 7.3 L diesel

check your fluid level first then your shift linkage if that is all ok change your transmition filter and clean magnent in pain when you do so also check your kickdown and upshift senors ect if none of that takes care of your problem your going to want to go see amco or trans shop unless you have a really good manual for trans repair and hands on trans experince

ps if you find big chunks of metal in pan just look for new trans

if this helps please give me a good rating

My transmission takes a while to shift around 40 mph. how can i fix it?

is this problem only when engine cold or happens also or only when hot?most simply ,shifts are determined by TPS(throttle position sensor)on engine throttle body, speed sensor(s)on transmission, and internal valve body.Trans should be serviced every 40,000km,we find that running trans on a flush machine often restores shifts and part throttle kickdowns if fault is not mechanical but caused by contaminated fluid as it gets most of the dirty fluid out of all the areas that a drain and filter change wont do.It is usually is best to get trouble codes checked for engine and trans.Which shift is it delayed in,2-3,3-4,does coming off the throttle help it change?is it upshift or downshift that is problem. This info will help in pin pointing problem better.hope this helps.

How can a kickdown cable be hooked up wrong if its connected to the tranny and the throttle body on a 1992 crown victoria

More likely it is not adjusted properly Kickdown cables are used to control fluid flow in the transmission so they shift correctly If adjusted to tight or to loose it will cause the transmission to not change gears properly or not at all

iac is for idle, and a bad tps sensor has a major effect on transmission shifting. the tps is what interfears with kickdown.
