Are my bulbs bad, sockets bad, or do I have a wiring issue? Do the brake and tail lights both run from the same bulb?

There is a switch on top of the steering column that switches the parking light facility on and off. Check that this switch is not in the on position . If it is on then your side lights will stay on even if you turn the lights off.

Check for power at the lights. If there is power then it's probably a bad ground. If not then you need to start checking the wiring harness for breaks or loose connection. Good luck, Neil W.

is this car an automatic transmission? if it is then you will need to check the gear selector switch on the transmission. I have seen one that would not properly engage for the park/neutral and reverse switches to function but the car was still drivable.
