How can I fix the metal cable that makes the front right side window go up and down?

The front right side window suddenly stopped working. The motor works fine, but the window won't move, all other windows work. I took a look at it and noticed a metal cable that makes the window go up and down was broken. What can i do to fix it?

You can't fix that, you must replace the whole unit which is called the window regulator assembly

Welcome to Fixya

The relay is loacted in the fusebox. It is clearly labeled along with the fuses. Relays are large and usually black. To test it, have someone press the window switch with the engine off you should hear it click. If it clicks its working, if not then you need to replace it.

Power windows go down part way and start clicking without moving

I had the same thing with my driver side window. I took the door panel off and did not see any physical damge. But if I ran my hand along the regulator track, I would feel the cable had started to fray and come apart. The clicking was the cable within the spool that winds up as you use the window rubbing against the plastic. My van is a 2000 and I was able to find a .pdf of the Dealer repair manual online, only one page talks about the regulators and shows for a manual setup. But it made the mounting screw locations easier to find. Go to you-tube and type in your car make and year with something like, "how to replace a window regulator". I was lucky enough to find one for my van. In my case, the space you are working with is extremely tight, but I was able to get it all back together and it works great. I just fixed it yesterday, BTW, just wanted to pass on the good fortune.

Driver side window not going up or down

It is most likely a wire that became disconnected at the switch, if neither windows work, it is likely a fuse.

Front passenger window does not work

sounds like bad regulator, pull your door panel apart and it is the part that goes onto the motor. long bow shaped thing with cable attached. pop out rivets, (I think 3 rivets) and on the upper side there are 2 nuts that have to be removed. then wiggle it around till you can get it out of the biggest hole in door. Good Luck.

2003 350Z window problem

Most likely your window motor has failed due to dirt inside from normal wear and tear during use, or overloading has burned it out. A second possibility is that you need to reset the calibration on the motor that tells it when to stop at the top and bottom (also necessary after replacing a worn or burned out motor). Great service-manual-quality info can be found here (link is to the reset procedure). Door panel removal is here. Window motor service info is here and here.

The passanger side windows aren't going up and down. 98 jetta glx

The window assembly has metal and plastic parts inter mixed that attach the metal to the drive motor via a cable. It is hard to see you will need a mirror and a pair of pliers. But the window all the way down vai the switch and look for a metal round metal part on the cable. This has to fit in the window assembly track.
I did a little bending and my rear window now works great.

Once those cables break, the window regulator is history.
Cheapest way is junkyard regulators.
